Where's my goalie???

Ok, first off I don't know a whole lot about hockey, I played the NHL games back on the Genesis and have been playing '15 a lot lately.
What I don't understand is why does my goalie come out at strange times for no reason? Like I was playing a game tonight and I was up a goal with about 7 minutes left in the game and the cpu gets possession and slaps it down the ice into my empty net. Game tied... Seriously wtf is that about?
I could understand if I was losing, but why does the cpu take out my goalie when I am trying to protect a lead? This has happened a few times now and I am NOT doing anything with the settings or anything like that.

you may be pulling the goalie by accident, if you press L1 and the touch pad(PS4) it pulls the goalie

Goalies only automatically leave the net when there is a delayed penalty call on the other team, and as soon as they touch the puck the play is dead. As mentioned, you're likely accidentally hitting those buttons.
