NHL 16 Penalties?

I still think the 2 key points being raised are 1. Most of the pens are for hooking\trip and 2 the slider for pens really does not work as it has,nt for a long time, also I agree that the ai allmost never pokechecks just bundles you off the puck all the time how is this realistic? I have been playing hockey since way back on the pc and for the pens and sliders point of view they worked well and affected the game. likewise with 2ksports . I think that after paying £45 for a game to be reasonable realistic with most pens called and a slider that works to increase or decrease the pens as it is supposed to do.

Has there been any discussion on whether or not the simulation or hardcore setting makes any difference?

Whoa whoa....easy trigger.....please don't make it sound like I have finally seen the light and the game is just fine penalty wise....I'm a realist and I know I've been hard on you and it's definitely not your love for the game and your over enthusiastic view of it. I actually think that's cool and I'm glad you love it and have a personal success. I also do not dispute your theory on drawing penalties. Yes I'm having a decent amount of penalties and yes I do enjoy the game. You and I will always differ on the reason though. You believe it's about how you play the game.....and sure there is truth to that, but I will never accept that is the way it was designed. I still believe sliders are broken and discipline ratings are meaningless. I still think EA made great strides this year but still have work to do. I will have fun playing this game but will still yearn for more, after all if we the gamer do not demand more why would they work to improve? Enjoy the game but don't settle. Always raise the bar 👍🍺

Jake, do you think the tuner update did or did not make any difference as far as penalties are concerned? How can I be sure I have the tuner (seems like it doesn't update the version number)?

I should be able to get tuner updates without Live, like roster updates....right?

Tuners only come when you attempt to play an online game. Not sure if you can do that without Live or not.

Technically you should be able to get the tuner update if you don't subscribe to ps plus or live.

for sure the tuner update helped and the tuner update just overwrote the old one so its the same number

I was able to get a few games in over the weekend. I'm still only seeing 2-3 penalties per game due to the CPU's tendency to body check instead of poke check or stick lift, resulting in much fewer opportunities to commit a penalty. I really hope EA addresses this in the next tuner, it's really taking a lot of enjoyment out of the game for me.
