      Re: Key defensive issues

the silly turnovers are what gets me.
CPU controlled D-men (not on the CPU team - this is with position lock on LW) have a tendency to panic for no reason when they have the puck in their zone and tend to turn the puck over when the slightest bit of forecheck is applied. Just like the video shows.

      What else is wrong:
the cpu can block my forward passes even though they are behind me.

CPU player gets body-checked but always manages to get up and get puck anyways (his body essentially block access to the puck)

Poke checked puck always seem to end up the oppositions stick.

      Horrible net front coverage

There's more but I don't want to be too negative here.

I actually find the panic from offensive pressure quite refreshing in 16. Teams get hemmed in their own zone and make mistakes in real life.

That is not what he is referring to. I think that he is talking about the times you D get the puck in your end and instead on making the quick and safe pass, they hold onto it until the opposing forwards get to them and then they either lose it outright or make a bad pass.
Also your D are the only ones who will lose the puck to the back of the net...yes, an in-animate object causes them to turn the puck over. The D for the CPU never do this...never, but your teammates sure do...especially on the PP.

Yeah that's more what I mean. I can't recall seeing the CPU opposing team get stuck on their own net but I have seen them put the puck in their own net a few times, one of which is in my video. Notice how I get +100 wrist shot accuracy for it. LOL

              Yep, This.
Hell, sometimes the D-men just turn over the puck for no reason at all simply because they decide to take the puck behind thier own net and then manage to "rub" the puck off thier sticks on the back of the net. It's stupid and infuriating.

                Re: Key defensive issues

The AI in general is one of this game's biggest weaknesses. The defensive AI in particular have no clue what they're doing. They just seem to move around in some sort of random game of keep-away, instead of actually trying to help a play form. But, when you need your teammates to get away from you most (every time I head to the blue line...do you all have to bunch up in the one clear path I'm taking in!?) they stick to you like glue.

The AI needs a huge work around. The defense is entirely too passive, you don't really get backchecking from forwards, and players just seem to float with no purpose. No matter which zone you're in, the players aren't really doing anything for a reason, they just seem to float. Your offensive d-men don't really seem any more likely to see an opening in the slot and skate in to blast a one-timer, and your power forwards don't seem any more likely to crash the net than your sub 6" winger who's got a great shot but moves in a stiff breeze.

Ah, I've never personally seen this since I play Be A GM Offline only. But I do know what your talking about when you say the puck supposedly gets stuck behind the net during game for no reason. This has got to be something EA patches out.
