Simulation or Hardcore?

Ive noticed that sometimes my cpu controlled players will play like absolute idiots at random points of the season. Ill make easy clean passes to players and they will have a hard time receiving it, leading to my passing being at around 60 %. 2 on 2 breakaways when myself and a cpu controlled teammate are back, I play the puck and the cpu player plays horribly out of position and decides to join me in playing the puck out of nowhere, cpu opponent gets wide open shot. And other random parts of the game players will just skate around and make no attempt to play the puck whatsoever, ill switch to a player and his back will be turned to the puck and I have to turn him around to go play the puck. This is really annoying and makes it frustrating when random games my players will all turn into AHL bottom 6 even if they are elite or top 4 D. When I play games in play now I never have this issue.
