Can someone explain player potentials?

I'm new to NHL games... Well I haven't played since NHL 04 on PS2. And I haven't watched a ton of hockey in the mean time either. One thing I cannot figure out is the player potentials.

My Be A Pro is a MED (guessing that means Medium) AHL Bottom 6 F... Does that mean I am supposively one of the worst Forwards in the minor leagues? I am in the WHL and haven't been drafted yet. I would just like to know all the potentials for each position so when i start a GM mode I wont be completely lost.

Franchise = 5 stars
Elite = 4.5 stars
Top 6 = 4 stars
Top 9 = 3.5 stars
Bottom 6 = 3 stars
AHL Top 6 = 2.5 stars
AHL Bottom 6 = 2 stars

D's are prett similar but Top 6 forward = Top 4 D, Top 9 forward = Top 6 D and Bottom 6 forward = 7th D.

Thats pretty much the jist of it. Someone can feel free to correct me if I missed something.

Bottom 6 does not mean you are one of the worst forwards in the minors, it means you are 3rd or 4th liner. Lines 1 + 2 are top 6 forwards (3 on a line + 2 lines).
