Absolutely HORRIBLE Goaltending in NHL 17

They were supposed to fix the weak goalies from NHL 16 for NHL 17 and even marketed the NHL 17 with all new goalie system, but the goaltending is almost worse than before.

Goalies are out of the crease now more than ever before and weak wrist shots go in more than often AND goalies are super fcucking slow.

The only thing goalies now learned is to use their stick

I have 88 overall luongo who lets in so many weak shots *** **** his saving % as of now is 0.767

Here I uploaded 2 videos to show as examples

Re: Absolutely HORRIBLE Goaltending in NHL 17

Online is now just a game of enter the zone, shoot low from high boards for far side rebound, crash far side and tap it home.

This works almost all of the time, to go along with all the old cheese and money goals that still work from before.

Real hockey plays don't work, however. They still warp from post to post, with no push, to make unreal stops on nice setups. So you're better off with the cheese and weak stuff.

Gameplay is really bad this year. Online is worst it has been in years, and that's saying something. Sad thing is... The beta was tolerable. But the updates have once again catered to the non-sim crybabies. Already regret opening the box.

      Online is a joke.

Goalies just dive out of the net on short side dekes. Give up way too many easy short side shots. Rebounds on soft shots just shooting out to the far side slot for easy goals.

Big part for this is EASHL hustle being so overpowered the far side offensive player just blows by the AI D man and is in perfect position for a rebound.

Couldn't agree more. Game is awful online atm. Simple fix would be to rollback to beta tuner.. not sure why this hasn't been done yet.

Because the game build we got to play during the BETA isn't the same build we're playing now. Also, EA changed a few things about how the goalie engine makes a decision on what type of save animations to use on certain shots.

During the beta, goalies would often make a lot more desperation type saves which people complained about because a lot of times after one of those saves your goalie would get stuck on his butt. So EA changed the behavior so that goalies now do a lot more reactionary saves when they're in good position to do so.

My problem with that is two fold. First, doing this didn't resolve the issue with the goalies freezing during certain save animations, it just made it less likely to happen. Second, reactionary save animations still have the unnerving ability to nudge you out of position. It's really frustrating to be perfectly centered to receive a shot on your chest, and then see the goalie move slightly left or right so he can make a save with his shoulder instead, and watch the puck bounce up, over and trickle into the net!

            FFS...
Where is the horse and the rider?
Where is the horn that was blowing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain. Like wind in the meadow.
The days have gone down in the West... behind the Hills... into Shadow.

How did it come to this?

are you guys talking about 1 v 1 online or EASHL when you say unplayable?

I have been addicted to the EASHL so far this year so that is whY I asked... i'm surprised you say that is all

Robo goalie percentage in EASHL is like .500 absolutely terrible weve had games where a team scores 4 goals in first 6 shots.
Its almost unplayable sometimes its so bad.
Its bad when the robo lets in more than your human goalie.

                    This is done by design!!
The bot goalie is supposed to suck. The mode is to be played 6v6.
                    EASHL is excellent this year.

Online the goalies are terrible, even more so after the "patch". Offline I have been able to get them playing well with some slider tweaks. Online is always a scoring fest, that is how EA wants it to play. Arcade is fun right?

We regularly have 5 or 6 guys , so dont play unless you have a human goalie then? ok ill try that. Maybe i can get another hobby now, maybe i can go back to Fifa clubs or do i need 10 other team mates to play that game now?

                        sigh....

Beta played awesome online , even without a goalie.

It is 6v6... Whether they're human or AI, hockey is 5 skaters and 1 goalie. Ask yourself this, if you play with 5 other humans, would you want one or all of them to be bad? So why is it ok to have the AI be bad? Just so you can feel good about your lack of skill when you skate by it and it does absolutely nothing?

If you expect your human teammates to be able to play decently, you should also expect the same from an AI teammate. No more, no less.

I don't want superhuman AI teammate, I just want them to do their job, like a human would.

And right now because of people like you, they don't... So who really needs to "git gud", I wonder?

If your claim to fame is that only human should be good, then maybe EA should just remove them alltogether. I wonder how much fun you'll have playing 2 v 5 with no AI whatsoever... Might be funny if you have no humans that want to play goalie. Watch 1 d-man and a forward try to hold off 3 fowards and 2 d-men on the other side.

But hey... You won't be cheated by "OP" bots that way, right?

Damnit I'm losing my mind with the goalies.

How are they so *** **** slow on reacting at rebounds? It's like they got the same effect as players this year when trying to turn around.

As if defending wasn't already hard. 90% of the goals scored are for sure the goalies fault, I'm not a master defender, but the goals look so weak, so bad, so sloppy, so easy.

I uploaded a couple of more videos.

Goalie positioning, goalies are so slow...

goalies for sure are worse this year

I'm having similar issues in franchise. I started a few test ones and pretty decent goalies like Luongo and Holtby always seem to let in 1 or 2 soft goals a game. I don't think I've ever finished a game yet where my goalie had a save percentage over .900.
