How do I body check properly?

I feel as if every time I body check in this game in the open ice the opposing player skates right around me. This is murdering me in HUT. I'm fairly good outside of checking, and in previous years I just used left stick checking, and I was great at it.

Right stuck checking feels so incredibly un-natural to me, and I don't seem to get satisfactory results with it no matter what I do.

Any tips?

The right stick is best for checking......Okay tips. Stop body checking , poke check instead. Only body check when , its along the boards or you're closer to the attacker.
