anyone here play 20 min real time periods?

I am playing on all star with 20 minute periods and am finding that the cpu is getting an unrealistic number of shots in a game. They are getting on average 50 shots a game which does not happen often in a real nhl game. I am still trying to get good at the game, but to me it seems that the shot totals are unrealistic. Wanted to see if this happens to others and if there are any sliders or adjustments I can make to try to get the shot totals to a more reasonable level.
