    EASHL Drop-in Redesign Proposal

Making Drop-in Great Again - EASHL/Drop-in Redesign Proposal

    Hey guys,

I spent some time writing a post / editorial about the current situation of EASHL/Drop-in and my ideas on how a redesign could really help make the whole experience a lot better. Pogge from ChelTips.com agreed to edit & publish it on his site, which is a pretty cool site for resources, tips & tutorials.

You can find the post here : https://cheltips.com/eashl-drop-in-redesign-proposal/

The post covers issues with the current implementation of Drop-in in NHL 17. Suggestions are made in order to streamline the whole drop-in experience; and a way to implement class-based line-changes is presented to add more depth to the EASHL/Drop-in game modes.

EA probably has a lot of plans and ideas about where they see the whole EASHL/Drop-in experience going, but hopefully this will get a discussion going.

What do you guys think? Would you like to have line-changes in EASHL? Discuss.

    Re: EASHL Drop-in Redesign Proposal

    TLDR:

    New matchmaking in Drop-in:
    * No more lobbies (or trolling / matchmaking fails)
    * No more class selection screen
    * You get to pick the exact position you want (LW, C, RW, LD, RD, G)
    * An estimated wait-time is displayed for each position
    * On the fly line-change (game is still 6 players per team)
    * Line-change refreshes stamina
    * Line-change allows to change class to counter what the opponent throws on the ice (more strategies)

Do you guys think using the line-changes to change classes on-the-fly is a good idea? Having to manage your players' energy, and not being able to change a gazed-out player after an icing could easily mean putting your team in trouble by icing the puck, just as it does in the NHL.

Just to be sure, EASHL/Drop-in would still be 6-on-6. The line change would do 2 things:

    1. Refill your stamina
    2. Change your player class (to whatever class you have mapped to each lines before-hand)

For Drop-in/EASHL, the proposed workflow doesn't have any lobby, or class-selection screen. The matchmaker would search and send you directly to a game at the position you selected.

Hence, allowing for line-changes in-game is necessary to keep the player-class selection "strategy" viable.
