Question about big hits and injuries

1 - Can the player delivering the big hit get injured?

2 - Do defensemen get injured?

The reason I ask is because I mostly control my forwards and they are delivering big hits and they are exclusively sustaining injuries. I haven't seen a defenseman get injured.

Yeah. I was always frustrated that guys would get crushed by players barely skating towards them just as they shot, and end up getting injured. Or my favorite penalty call was when a player would lay down, and in the process of shooting, my defender would trip over them, drawing a penalty for tripping.
