Overall, NHL 18 gameplay has been tightened up, and you'll notice a very nice distinction between...

Nice write up Mike.

Do you have any sim sliders you can share with the OS community?

Not happy about the cpu breakaway AI. Hopefully this is something that EA can fix with a patch.

I think the gameplay is solid. Agree with all your points about sim setting/all-star. I've been playing on that and the numbers are great. I need to get better and I've found myself altering strategies during the game to try to generate chances. The AI has scored on me on 2-on-1s more than all of last year, too.

"There are still a few legacy issues that seem to plague this game."

This is probably the understatement of the year.

Peter, check the sliders forum for my slider set. And yes, today's patch has improved AI on breakaways, but on default, they will still lose the puck too often performing a move.

Re: NHL 18 Gameplay Impressions of Sim/Competitive/Arcade Styles

I play position lock and am using Mike Lowe's sliders. They work good so far. Haven't tried them with the new patch yet. However, my gripe with game play is that the CPU seems to score a lot from the offensive zone FO circle, from the "outside" of the circle. In my recent game, the CPU scored twice from the EXACT same spot.

Now I'm hoping that the new patch tightens things up, but I remember in past versions, certain parts of the ice always being scoring sports.

And like you said about pass accuracy, I see pass accuracy percentages over 80 quite a bit. I was hoping by lowering the pass accuracy slider this would drop. But due to these pin point passing issues (another version same issue again!), the CPU seems to score a lot more easily. I also think the Shot Accuracy slider is messed up, at least for my players.

My players hit the post so many times and even miss wide open nets being only 5 feet out. Yet, again, CPU can knock the beak off a bird!

Anyone having major issues after EA major update today ?? I can't play Franchise mode now. Starting a new one crashes out completely.

Please any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
