    Customizing/Replacing Teams in Franchise Mode...

I just messed around with the Franchise mode a little last nite and had a few questions about replacing/adding teams.

    - Can you only replace teams, not add more than there already are (Classic mode)?

    - I didn't see where I could use ECHL (or Affiliates) to replace teams in Franchise mode (that would have the Jerseys & Areanas already made). Can you not use them as a custom team?

    - It gives me the option to edit the Blues Affiliate team, but not others (I didn't control the Blues). Why can I edit theirs?

    - Also, when I went to draft a prospect I created, there were 2 of him. How do you replace teams and still get all the players, but not 2 of any?

    - You can't edit the Fantasy Draft can you (besides the start order), turn it from Serpentine to Fixed or Anything? I don't know a lot of NHL players, but a couple I wanted would be gone before I'd pick again. Anyway to fix this (can't edit after you start, so don't want to lower them).

    Thanks for any help!

Re: Customizing/Replacing Teams in Franchise Mode...

I’ll take the first 3 questions:

    - You can’t add more teams to Franchise mode. It’s either 31 or 32 (with the 32nd being the expansion draft team) depending on your mode selection.

    - You can’t put ECHL teams into Franchise, but their logos are available for custom teams, so you could “promote” an ECHL team to NHL/AHL by recreating them.

    - In real life, the Blues don’t have an affiliate this season and will place prospects around the AHL. The AHL will have only 30 teams while the NHL has 31. In 18-19 AHL will go to 31. To make things simpler for the game, they’ve had the AHL expand “early” so there’s a 1:1 affiliation for every club. You fill in the missing Blues team.

      - Thanks for the responses. Too bad you can't add extra teams. And that makes sense about the 1 Affiliate team.

      - Disappointing that you can use the ECHL or Minor League teams that are already made. NBA has some pre-made teams on there. I want to replace a whole division of teams and saw a couple like the Monarchs that I really liked. But kind of wanted to not have to make all the jerseys and everything for every team.

Still have a couple of other questions...

You can replace teams on the team select screen even on 32 team mode. The only team you can't replace is the 32nd team (the one you create).

Obviously the teams you want to add in need to be made via the create a team option on the main menu.

@spoofrice11: Fantasy drafts are always serpentine for fairness. Otherwise the teams are the top of the order would be significantly better than the teams at the bottom.

@canucksss: No WHL, sorry. You can choose from all of last year’s logos, plus...
+ a handful of new custom ones
              + some state/province shapes
              + ECHL logos
              + Vegas primary and alt

                I have a question...
is there a way to get my created team from NHL 17 into NHL 18??? or do I have to do all that crap all over again?

                  Thanks for the reply.

                  - In NBA 2K, I can set the Fantasy Draft as fixed, so that is why I am checking. I wanted to start out with a few of my favorite players, since I don't know that many anymore (Stamkos, Tarasenko, & Forsberg, then fill out my roster with young prospects with cool names).

The reason two created players show up is because of the way you assigned them to a team. If you want to draft a guy then you need to put him on a team in the WHL QMJHL or OHL otherwise he will get double because of the games code.
