Huh... I guess I shouldn't have believed the initial hype. Here I was thinking they'd actually implement a MyCareer-type mode. Silly, silly me. EA will never "get it". I'd bet anything that this game will essentially be the same game as the past 5 years on the PS4 with minimal upgrades and the same issues.

No buy, once again.

It's incredibly frustrating after years of hoping for them to really overhaul the Be a GM mode to see yet another year where something goofy is the focus (Outdoor 3-on-3 and customizing my street clothes?) but I guess that's the way these things go.

It's been a bit disappointing to not get to play the sport I love watching every game of and playing, all because the gameplay (for me) has been the same tired thing for the past 4 to 5 years.

I can't even feign the optimism of years past. I skipped last year after seeing people post videos of them playing, when I realized I couldn't really see a difference, and it looks like this year I can just go ahead and skip it now.

NHL is an after thought for EA. They just do the bare minimum with this title. I'll once again wait until the season is over, and then buy it for $19, like I did this year.

You people need to not. Judge this game based on a 1 minute trailer and wait to see more gameplay footage with the. New skating engine.

So pond hockey over having the winter classic. Yeah that makes sense. I never touch the gimmick modes. Sure I try it for about 5 min then never go back.

Its the same thing every year dude. Waiting to see more scripted gameplay footage isnt going to change anything. They dont deserve the benefit of the doubt at all.

Of course we can’t make a final judgement on these cut scene trailers but you can’t deny people have the right to be skeptical when last year we were given nhl 3s and create a mascot. Legacy issues, horrible AI, and players that all play the same for years and go untouched. Things a very passionate community ask for go ignored. Believe me if the game plays great and there are noticeable improvements people will give EA props but history is not on EAs side

I thought maybe they made changes in franchise and be a pro and wanted to hide it and surprise us but guess not. What is ea playing at . I mean yea the only hockey game sure I will buy it but cmon ea are u serious . The least hyped I have ever been for an nhl game.

Total bummer on the only franchise major change was to scouting. I guess there will come a day.. and maybe it's this year, that I totally go to text sims for all my favorite sports.

Edit: I just saw a post over on the EA forums that said if you're a franchise fan stay tuned for more news on that over the summer (so there is still hope)

Pond Hockey is cool but I'm pretty sure NHL 2K5-7 had pond hockey and the fact that this is one of EA biggest feature their hyping about when we've seen it in games that are 12-14 years is beyond pathetic. But I guess EA can say, WELL YOU DIDNT GET TO WEAR STREET CLOTHES IN NHL 2K!

I had bought every EA NHL game since the original (1991) until NHL 18. It looks like the streak will continue for 19 (unless they finally add custom music, then I'll be suckered in)!

Has EA said whether the option to play as an expansion team in Franchise mode will remain in NHL 19 or not?
