Trades:

LW Alexander Steen (84) to Vegas for LW Max Pacioretty (84)
Steen has become stale and complacent here in St. Louis, so he'll get a change of scenery in Vegas and not only do we get a comparable replacement, we also save about $1.5M in salary.

LW Jaden Schwartz (86) to NY Rangers for their 2019 1st round draft pick
Even at 26 I don't see Jaden in our long term plans. The previous GM traded away a bunch of draft picks and I'm going to work hard on getting them back. It's a great start getting a 1st round pick back for the 2019 draft. Bonus is getting rid of his $5.5M contract.

That's just a start and as the season goes on, I'll evaluate our younger players, hopefully resign our rising stars and prepare for the 2019/20 drafts by getting more picks. Many of our core players need to show me they want to be here in St. Louis or they will get shipped out.

2018/19 Starting Lineup:

Pacioretty (84) - [C] O'Reilly (88) - [A] Tarasenko (90)
Perron (84) - Schenn (86) - Fabbri (80)
Maroon (81) - Bozak (82) - Sundqvist (77)
Sanford (76) - Thomas (77) - Barbashev (78)

Parayko (85) - [A] Pietrangelo (88)
Dunn (82) - Edmundson (81)
Bouwmeester (80) - Gunnarsson (79)

Allen (82)
Binnington (78)

* I'm going to play key games and simulate the rest.

I just played my first game with the latest tuner - I don't remember if it's 1.01 or 1.03 or what (I chose latest) but WOW.. the best game I've had so far with NHL 19. I hope it stays this way.

Re: How's your franchise going? NHL 19 Edition

We lose our home opener, 6-2 to Winnipeg but there was a point in the game when we were down 3-2 and Perron beat the goalie but his shot deflected off the goal post. That would have changed the game completely.

Hellebuyck was unreal for the Jets though, stopping 39 out of 41 shots. An effort like we had today going forward will no doubt yield different results. I was very happy at the way we played despite the final score.

The (1-0) Blackhawks come to the Enterprise Center and MizzouRah will start Binnington in net. Bouwmeester has a broken nose but will play.

Binnington and the Blues shutout Chicago, 3-0 behind a sellout crowd at the Enterprise Center.

Binnington stops all 31 shots and gets his first career win and shutout in his first career NHL start. Newly acquired forward, Max Pacioretty would score 2 goals and Robert Thomas would score his first NHL goal as the Blues improve to (1-1) on the season.

Next up the Calgary Flames (1-1-0) come to town.

Re: How's your franchise going? NHL 19 Edition

We are now (3-7-1) after a tough, physical win over Vegas. Steen returned to the Enterprise Center and Pacioretty would face his old team and the Blues would prevail, 3-1 as Binnington was great in net.

This game had a ton of hitting by both teams and many penalties, Ryan O'Reilly would get the Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, an assist and a fight.

It's been a rough start for the Blues, but hopefully this gets them going in the right direction after snapping a 3 game losing streak.

We beat the (11-0-1) Minnesota Wild, 3-1. Binnington was again stellar in net!

Re: How's your franchise going? NHL 19 Edition

Playoffs have just begun in Season 5 of my Detroit Franchise.
We got lucky at the end of the regular season, finishing with a record of 50-28-4.
The Bruins lost their very last game 3-0 to Florida which saw us go to the top of the Atlantic Division standings to become the 22/23 division champs.
