Poke check.

Man I would love that but most people would just be mad because they'd drop features. The time for new ideas was NHL 15 but they decided not to do that

Poke check can tap the puck into the net without having to take possession of it, pretty much what you are saying can't be done.

Poke check with an open net and the puck goes sideways. If you poke check in general it goes straight to the other team. This game is awful.

Exactly. The pick physics is horrible when playing against the cpu. Poke checks always goes towards the cpu no matter what angle you poke it. It's so obvious it's funny. I didn't buy 19 but I still try to play 18. But I can only play 1 or maybe squeeze in 2 games before getting so frustrated with this game. It's so annoying.

If you use DSS effectively, you can direct where you poke check. The physics calculations on DSS seem to be more consistent than simply pressing poke check.

If you simply use poke check, the game decides where you want to poke check and the subsequent physics seem to be random.

Seems to me that hitting poke check may take player attributes in to account when making physics calculations on the puck reaction, whereas DSS doesn't include player attributes and results in more consistent results in regards to loose puck interaction.
