NHL20 - Scouting length in Franchise mode

I was pretty happy to start my franchise until I relaise that I am in mid september and my scoutes have a ETA of end of December to Mid Feb to scout .... 10 players.

At this rythm i need 200 scouts to get a proper draft board.

Adding a single Goialie Potential takes more than a month

Did you manually assign them those players or did the AI select them?

I manually assigned them i usually manage my scouts manually but it is a good point i could try to let the ui manage as a workaround

Check the scout efficiency ratings as well.

Well was not making a difference

So does it means we are forced to let the cpu manage scouting?

It helps if you assign your scouts to “find prospects” for the first couple to a few months of the season. Thy will generally expose potentials, skills, strengths and weaknesses, and play style without having to assign those in one fell swoop. What I generally do is assign each scout for a territory to scout early first all the way to 7th rounders for at least two weeks each to start. Then I start manually assigning individual prospects based on how they look for the remainder of the season. I found that you can build a much more solid board and find a lot more prospects this way. Also this will allow your scouts to find gems and busts. When this happens your scout will place a green diamond next to a guy who is a gem and a red diamond for a guy who’s projected to most likely be a bust. I have found a ton of elite late round prospects through the gem marked players

I gotta say that auto-scout definitely sucks this year. I had some decent success with this method :

-turn off auto-scout and set your scouts to scout individual players for potential. Keep adding players until your ETA is around December 1.
-turn auto-scouting on from dec 1-trade deadline
-at the deadline, turn off auto-scouting and scout individual players for potential again until your ETA is close to the end of the regular season.
-turn on auto-scouting for the playoffs to the draft.

Obviously, the more manual scouting you do, the more success you'll have but also, it's a pain to set up all the scouts, so I only like to do it when I have other set up **** to do LOL

Also, I find that scouts have more success if they are scouting fewer players, so from the beginning of the season to Dec 1, for example your scouts will only be able to look at a handful of players each, but you should get decent info. (Especially if you run 20 amateur scouts like I do)

Thing is i am in owner mode so i barely can have more than 15-16 scouts with usually 14 full time on amateurs
