The cpu flat out cheats, its coded into the game no matter what sliders you put in. I've done extensive testing and it just doesn't matter. I've put the cpu at 0 on pass interceptions and poke check and they still block, steal, and poke check the puck at will. I've even put speed and acceleration as much as 15 points higher and the cpu is still faster than me. They catch up to me every time, i have very few breakaways.. Its ridiculous, the people at EA don't care because there is no competition. You just have to find a slider set you can work with and except the fact that the cpu is going to cheat its butt off...

Now that you know that, hold down pass then make use of the "cancel pass" feature to create more time and space. Believe me, the CPU tries to jump your routes, so you can really pull them out of position using this.

Don't forget that CPU can also pokecheck and stick lift through your skaters body (and you can't) so no angle is safe...


I really wish they remove that...

I just adjust their spin moves, puck control, goalie reactions, etc. to a ridiculous level, and adjust the Human sliders the opposite. I want to enjoy the game and to not be run off the ice by the CPU. My games are competitive.

Weird, cause this year I feel I never get cheated by the AI... Played tons of games on All-Star and Superstar difficulty. And my sliders are the same on both AI and human in every categories...

Try bumping down the aggression slider and the acceleration slider. I would start really low (25 probably) and go up from there. at low levels they put absolutely no pressure on you.

Play on PRO. Max out all of the CPU difficulty slider options and lower HUM sliders as you see fit to find a balance that works. The biggest plus to this difficulty level is that it's an even playing field on the ice in terms of speed, passing accuracy, etc.

The developers have actually confirmed that the User has an advantage on PRO. The reason it seems "fair" though is because the AI has a lot of non-attribute related advantages over the user (drag pucks through 10 skates, grab the puck on any tied-up faceoff, pivot on a dime and not adhere to the physics engine, decide your goalie is going to be awful because they want a goal, draw penalties without you ever even touching them, lift sticks and affect the puck through your body, etc), so your slight attribute advantage is evening out the playing field.

No, I don't have a the specific forum post from the EA forums, but NHLDev (the Developer account) confirmed that each difficulty level changes the "advantage slider" if you will from old games.

Pro was slight edge to the User
All-Star was even
Superstar was slight edge to the CPU

Again, for the reasons I previously explained, it's easy to see why Pro seems the most "fair" as the CPU has a lot of non-attribute related bonuses that wouldn't be changed by the difficulty level.
