The Blitz license is owned by Midway who became part of Nethrealm Studios eventually. Unless 2K somehow buy off the Blitz license from them or make a partnership (i'd love to see that) then they'd have to make their own game.

An NFL Blitz clone would be cool if they could do it right. 2K's NBA Playgrounds is pretty good, so why not NFL Playgrounds?

As for an NHL product. Well there's no restrictions there and 2K already has the NHL license. They've had it for years. But they've never done an NHL game because EA has a very dominant marketing advantage there.

Doubt we'll ever see an NHL 2K product again. Unless EA somehow stops making one themselves and leaves that market up for grabs.

EDIT: nvm... EA grabbed the Blitz license when Midway went bankrupt. Sooooooo... Yeah.

I think 2KHS is the only "new" 2K hockey game you will see.
