    Can Players Potential CHANGE

I am in franchise my goalie is 23 and potential is starter and he is an 81overall but currently having the best goalie season in the NHL and I simulated just to see what he would progress too if he kept the same pace and if elite is possible and idk if he won the award for best goalie but he did average 2.60 gaa and a .913 save percentage with 35 or so wins and at the start of next season his potential went down to fringe starter and he went up to a 82overall 😂😭... So i was just curious was ot possible or has anyone seen cases where due to your play on ice a players potential has ever increased?

yes your players potentials change, players are like entities in the game, u will know if players gel together or don't gel , u will often see there stats reflect that also, now if u put attribute effects at 10 is major change potentials skyrocket 25 fold, now this year NHL developer told us to play with attribute effects at 5 and i also suggest aggression at 50 and cpu strategy adjustment at 4 or 3.

goalies potentials do change, I've seen goalies who we're 85 overall go down to 82 and 79, also goalies do change in height and weight too, in be a pro , i usually set myself at 6'3 and 205 and i went to up to 6'4 and 215, another thing age has something do with it, he may be 39 or 40 craig anderson but he slows down after 3-5 season his overall drops to 82 and 79, but again its pretty random sometimes, u'd have to sim whole season just how much potentials change. goalies don't change very much just slightly but not extreme change.

rookies do most of there growing in : pre-season and couple of games in season, so when in pre-season, players u drafted (or they go back to CHL for more growing or other league they came from) put them in pre-season before u start NHL season, do what NHL does, load up roster with rookies and goalies, they gave estimate roster of vets need to be on roster 8 vets and alot of rookies, for pre-season, make sure u grow defense and goalies too, when pre-season is done put rookies back to AHL club or CHL .

that's why when u start franchise and in pre-season opposing team has lower overalls , if u look at rosters sum vets are in AHL club and rookies are in roster, with NHL vets mixed in.

What i mostly was referring to was their potential i traded for Alexandar Georgiev who is 23 years old and was a 80 overall with starter potential now after our first 25 games he has 6 shutouts and a .960 save percentage has been playing like one of the top goalies in the league and his overall is up to 81 but his potential has dropped down to fringe starter and that was what i didnt understand how can he be young and playing amazing but his potential is dropping. So i fired my goalie coach because his teaching was a C- and hired one with A+ teaching to see if that makes a difference

I did hear NHL developer say in his videos, to find a goalie coach with A+ (A- or A) Teaching, one that develops goalies faster and teaching is good idea, even i went after new goalie coach with A- teaching too, it does help, but again pre-season is must for rookies to grow and few games in NHL does trick , they develop faster if sim few games too in NHL, same forwards find coach with A (A- or A+) Teaching and Overall Grades does help.

am glad you took time to explore game little and find what this does and stuff that, that's what I do sometimes.

even i make dummy profile just for experiments with sliders, to see what each value does.

Dude, you speaking from the Ratings but not from Potentials. Potentials are Franchise, Elite, Starter, Fringe Starter ....... Never saw that growing from a Starter to Elite. You can develop a Goalie in ratings up to 90 even he has a Starter Potential. Of course they fell down in Potential when they getting older.

oh! i don' think it matters if are speaking about ratings, am just saying that it fluxates alot in NHL 20, both potentials and ratings, am just saying they sure change alot, that is all, now for potentials, probably best get player or goalie who has medium and high potentials, all i know rookies take alot of time to develop alot of trial and error.

Player Potentials of Rookies can raise fast. I traded for the young Kirby Dach at the beginning of my Expansion Team Franchise. Let him play first Season with the Team. He had 38 Points and his Potential was growing after year one from Top 6 High to Elite medium. Traded for Joel Hofer in year one. Starter medium. Let him grow two years in the CHL. He had impressive stats at Portland in the WHL and was growing fast in ratings. First year in the AHL he was the best Goalie in the League. After one year AHL took him as a Backup for Samsonov to the NHL. He played 24 Games, Goals against was 2.21 per Game his ratings grow to 84. Actual Season he is my Starter .... till now 2.43 Goals per Game, 34 Wins 10 losses. Best Goalie in the NHL so far. I am now at Regular Season 23/24 Game 66 and play all my AHL and NHL Games. For fun I was simming the rest of the Season after I made an extra save. Joel Hofer won the Vezina. His rating go down to 82. His Potential never raise. Since the beginning he is a Starter Medium. I played a lot Games in NHL 20 but never saw that young Goalies raise Potentials to the next higher level. For me it is an EA Goalie bug. The Best Goalies with good performance are Goalies wirh Ratings about 84,85,86. Goalies with 90 ratings have very often a bad performance. Better to Trade them.
