I didn't notice this at first, but good catch. This has to be some kind of error due to the rushed nature of the trailer or something, I hope. The fact that it could go either way says all you need to know about this team/the resources EA does or doesn't throw at NHL.

Also my thought. I mean yeah, it looks pretty slick visually, but it also looks like a riff on the same goddamn thing we've been playing for 15 years. I am dying for something else.

This can't be it, right?

The website mentions visual upgrades, and gimmicky superstar x-factors...and that's all. On the surface this looks very underwhelming, even for the NHL series.

Ok, that’s what I thought too.

I am still playing NHL 17, I’m a weirdo and like to play multiple seasons. But I’m due for an upgrade since Vegas and Seattle aren’t in that game. But from watching this trailer, in 5 years it just seems the absolute same. The best thing I noticed was better, more realistic animations for receiving the puck, but that could have been around for years.

I know it’s easy to say it’s a roster update and a new paint job, but it does seem that way. Even more pathetic is I’m going to buy it because that’s simply all I want after spending half a decade with a previous version.

Re: NHL 22 Reveal Trailer

I saw the same animations, locomotion, stick handling and posture as nhl 15-21. It’s last gen with a frostbite skin. So disappointing. Our next gen nhl’s and madden’s of the world should be completely new experiences.

Re: NHL 22 Reveal Trailer

There's an IGN interview with a producer that says there aren't any new animations and that the gameplay additions are basically just Frostbite, eye tracking and new visuals. That's it.

Said there's still more to announce on BAP and Franchise mode but honestly, I would be happy with these gameplay changes + smaller adjustments to Franchise like more stats (think some of the advanced stats), some better FA negotiating, box scores, etc. My expectations are so low that I expect none of that, but I did really enjoy NHL21 on and off the ice and just want to see continued improvement to Franchise, even if it's small. 21 had a lot of good additions.

Re: NHL 22 Reveal Trailer

They better make teams play differently, I got bored of NHL21 after a few franchise seasons games. I had to use the same tactics to beat teams and score on one timers. There needs to be more differentiality between teams, players and more random goals going in.
