TV style presentation is non existent in 22
The TV style presentation in NHL 22 is just awful. It doesn't even come close to any tv broadcast. The NHL team needs to do some serious work in this area, games like NHL 14, 15 had way better tv style presentation. This game doesn't even have the basics.Tags: None -
Re: TV style presentation is non existent in 22
EA Sports wants to keep reinventing the wheel instead of relying on the tried and true. For many decades, the TV presentations have proven themselves, but EA Sport always wants to go a different way at any cost and is screwing it up more and more.
Recently, EA Sports fades in statistics in the bully circle that hardly anyone can read so quickly, and in addition, the statistics are also often wrong / mixed up.
And who thought the scoreboard would be nice to look at has not the slightest idea of his job. Nothing about the scoreboard is correct at all. It's ugly, misplaced, and way too big. -
Re: TV style presentation is non existent in 22
I have to be honest, playing NHL22 is, for me, an enjoyable experience. I think it's a good all around game and among the better years of this franchise. But, I don't play it looking for a full television experience. Unfortunately when games did focus on TV presentation, the sales spoke for themselves. The 2K series almost entirely offered TV style gameplay. But the sales just weren't there. But in the EA world, even when NHL leaned a bit more towards TV presentation, it was never great. The video intros with Emrick and Olczyk were awfully acted, repetitive, and so generic that they never had any relevance to the game you were actually playing.
2K5 has the best TV presentation of any hockey game and even the PC version of NHL09 is better. They promote the on-ice game now instead of TV because television sports ratings are at their lowest in decades and younger people (the bulk of gamers) simply don't watch sports as much anymore. So it's not going to be what developers try to offer.
Just play 22 and enjoy it for what it is. If nothing else, the commentary is more alive now than it's ever been.Comment

I agree with the poster they do have some work to do. NHL 22 is plainly and simply a beautiful game these new game graphics where they are on the ice are terrific and a great idea. As a stat hound I wish when they showed the graphics of who scored the goal at the bottom it would be nice to include who assisted on the goal it does show it just before the face-off but putting it on the goal graphics would be a better option I think.
As with the NHL series I think like we all have said they are the smaller group of the teams that do sport video games. So I think we get what we get but I was super impressed with this version and I think this is certainly a good base and they are not done yet more I think is on the way we will just have to wait and see what they deliver.
Doc just could not devote enough time the guy was super old and was facing retirement it was a surprise the direction they went but I do hope they change the play by play lead guy. This guy that does it for me is not bad but I think there are better options out there but again in closing the team is right where they need to be and when they can focus on strictly Next-Gen only they will have more time for the bells and whistles.Comment

Re: TV style presentation is non existent in 22
Well Blueberry told me they don't focus on presentation because they put so much work into gameplay lol...uh huh. Remember when they added props to the rinks only for them to block the ice from certain camera angles and never to be used for cool intros? I remember.
The slowly gliding intros with the lights on ONLY worked because of the NBC package. Without a real TV package (and especially with one using big block lettered graphics like "GOAL" and the score bug showing the goal + assists looking like it was done by crayon and forgot to add any spacing whatsoever) the intro bores you before the snorefest of a game even gets too. This is year 3 post NBC right? We've been blessed with AR graphics (that were broken), a super ugly "GOAL" graphic, laser beam noises on X-factor shots, and the fans still can't bother to cheer for more than 5 seconds after a goal in that span lol.
At least we got the Michigan though.Join the EVHL!

Sports games have been turned into "esport" games for wannabe esport players who aren't good enough to be real esport players at real esport-quality games and all fans of the respective sports games are the ones left to suffer. We'll never be heard as much as the crying 15 year old with a credit card.Join the EVHL!
