wowsers be a pro player am like next level 2.0 and be a pro goalie am like trash, I wonder if I should give up goalie altogether, I still hold out hope for it, but the goalie is like cancer, be a pro player is like awesome, anyone else finding that with be a pro player is better then goalie this year?

that's why am gonna lower the interference to 85 from 95, pretty soon, I had to think about that, I think it's better with 5-1 scores, if I don't like that, I will make more adjustments, but am impressed with how be a pro player turned out this year.

we nearing 40k views guys, keep it coming, I've never had slider make 40k views in 1 year before.

The problem is (and has always been) that the goaltending in EA's game has always been a secondary and very distant part of the experience in their sport game since way back when they brought the franchise to "Next-Gen" with NHL 15.

No one has really gotten it right (not even 2K), but at least goaltending wasn't some shallow position, at least not as shallow as EA makes it out to be.

People get paid millions of dollars to prevent a piece of vulcanized rubber from reaching the back of the net, stopping THOUSANDS of Shots each season. But you'd think, by playing EA's NHL, that goalies are 2 feet tall, 7 year old's who are learning to skate, with Serta Pillows strapped to their legs. They just have less than ZERO respect for this position.

In order for goaltending to be done justice in a Hockey game, they have to rethink the entire mechanic to be the groundwork for the rest of the gameplay, including skating. They need to pump more animations than in any other position on the ice and they need to make it skill based, just like they do with the skaters. No more pushing buttons and hoping to god the animations "play out" and you make a save. No more directional inputs that either do nothing or do too much because the game decided to help you or hinder you.

I've offered ideas to both developers over the years that would bring more skill to the position, while making it better and more rewarding (on both sides). But... Oh well, I guess it's better to make a mockery of it than to try and fix it.

I remember a hockey game circa 2007ish where it wasnt so bad to be the goalie.

The camera angle was fixed behind the player, with the player being see through so you could see the action in front of the net etc. When a shot was made, the game slowed down for a second to where you moved a reticle to make the save.

Now if EA could make a reticle system optional and base the slow down duration on awareness, vision or something of that nature, I think it would make it a little more enjoyable for those that do not have the best thumb reflexes.

I liked it personally and I know it isn't for everyone.

It could be an alternate way to play, and they could base the Quick time event on the users reaction speed, and couple it with the goalies skills.

I'm pretty sure it was actually 2k8, the same year they had contract negotiations that worked on a slider where you have a fair value and player asking price, and the player has a team likeness so if you low ball them, they lose interest in signing.... That was the game that got me playing hockey games religiously, when 2k9 sucked, and EA had BAP, I did what everyone else did and switched

It was in 2K8 too. And 2K7 with that god awful CINEMOTION crap. But it first made its debut in NHL 2K6 thanks to input from Dallas Legend Marty Turco.
