Ultimate Team is Becoming Unplayable

I would just like to highlight my experience playing Ultimate Team recently. I'm sure many others are having similar experiences. I have only been playing Ultimate Team for a few months, so I'm sure I am drastically behind in terms of my cards. I have a 90-60 Division 4 fighter with a 77 overall attribute.

This is only an estimate, but I feel about 75% of the time I am fighting a champion, even though I have lost 7 of my last 10 fights.

Here is what I am being matched with:

LOSS - Fighter with 1501-610 record, 94 Overall
LOSS - Fighter with 163 - 27 record, 91 Overall
WIN - Fighter with 300-342 record, 85 Overall (with 98 Stand up)
LOSS - Fighter with 253-281 record, 81 Overall (95 Stand up)
LOSS - Fighter with 1123-263 record, 99 Overall
WIN - Fighter with 149-248 record, 79 Overall
LOSS - Fighter with 569-232 record, 87 Overall (98 Stand up)
LOSS - Fighter with 87-26 record, 83 Overall (96 Stand Up)
WIN - Fighter with 140-141 record, 77 Overall
LOSS - Fighter with 401-361 record, 91 Overall (100 Stand Up)

So I basically have to be matched up 3-5 times with a fighter I have absolutely no chance against, who knocks me down or rocks me with every strike before I am matched with someone with COMPARABLE stats (Although in those 10 fights only 1 fighter had matched my stats exactly, no one with less)

Look at the gigantic difference in stats. It's not fun being a 77 OVR and getting matched up with 97 OVR credit-card-gorged characters

Best thing to do in my opinion is make a wrestler and completely sacrifice stand up stats, thats what I done. Just clinch or takedown the whole time until you've built up enough cards for a well rounded fighter, but it'll take a long time.

Yup, except if your wrestler isn't max height/reach it can be hard, like my first MW -_-

Best thing to do in my opinion is make a wrestler and completely sacrifice stand up stats, thats what I done. Just clinch or takedown the whole time until you've built up enough cards for a well rounded fighter, but it'll take a long time.

Pretty much this. This is what I did with my WBW when I first made it (was BJJ though).

Because I don't care how skilled you are at this game, when you have that significant of a difference in stats the game isn't worth even trying. I am division 6 in ranked and hardly ever get finished. In Ultimate team I get rocked or knocked down instantly in some of these fights. Its one thing to get matched up with someone with that kind of stat advantage once in awhile, but when its happening the majority of the time I am ready to move on to a different game.

You have to play a lot, get coins and build a decent fighter. What is your W-L record? My firts player has a negative W-L because at the beggining I was losing a lot.

Patch later, same problem..

I just fought 7 people in a row with at least 15 points in their advantage.

The also all had the same strategy. Spam on the feet since their wheelkicks are literally faster than my jabs. And if by some miracle I manage to get them to the ground, reversals from just about any position, the get to sidecontrol unopposed, since they transition so fast it's impossible to react to because of the slight delay online and we can't deny preemptively.

Lag + human reaction time = guaranteed fail, unless you guess and get lucky.

Combine that with the inability to block in sidecontrol and you've got yourself a guaranteed KO.

Elbow once, deny super slow transition, repeat.


What exactly am I supposed to do that devs? It's completely impossible to win no matter where the fight takes place, so what? Just keep playing people I can't possibly beat no matter how bad they are?

Easy answer is to make new fighthers and keep recreating fighters. Keep 1 to usr all sttributr boosts on. Revreate all others and only usr moves on them. Better idea is go to ranked and never spend real moneys on UT. The more you spend the worse the cash grab will become. And that is fact.

Yup, that's just how I do it too. It might suck for the players in the lower divisions, but it's either that or dropping loads of real cash. If you don't do either you'll go up with your 75OVR against 97OVR monsters, not fun

This is mostly because you're in WBW. Just like in ranked, almost nobody plays the women's divisions. I really don't understand why they are so disliked

I logged in last night for a couple fights just because I haven't been on in so long and immediately I get matched against two top 10 WMN fighters lol. I'm 94 ovr but still the difference in number of fights is pretty wild.

Back to Madden.

The OP is spot on! I have only owned an Xbox and this game since June when my son brought his Xbox and the game home with him for summer break. Being an ex boxer myself and a big MMA fan since the first televised cards with Gracie- Shamrock-ect this game got me hook line and sinker. When my son left to go back to college I ran out and bought an Xbox and the game that morning and am at it every night. There are 3 -4 excellent players I follow on Youtube and I also keep a book to log moves and transitions. I finally built my Ultimate Team the week of the Bisping -Henderson fight but have not loaded them with cards yet. A lot of the problem is exactly what the OP stated and on top of that I watched a Youtube video of a guy who deleted his Division 4 fighter and created a new one and had him in Division-1.Even if you have some nice cards I believe you can only start your first Div-1 fighter with a total of moves that equal 75 stars. This guy filled his fighter with 250 mainly all 5 star cards, lights up a joint and starts playing. It was no contest as every opponents punch that hit him seemed as if he was hit by Gumby and when he hit or kicked them down they went and he kept laughing while doing his taunts for them to get back up. He did face one guy who had to do the samething but only didn't have the cards this guy had. I say that because his fighter got dropped a good 9 times but kept getting back up and was the only fighter that lasted well into the second round and whom he finally jumped on and finished.


So I guess I should expect losing an awful lot of fights in Division-1 until I can score better cards and get more then a 75-star allotment? What do you have to do to get to fill your fighter with 250 stars worth of moves? I would have to believe win and move up a few divisions. Could someone make this part clear for basically noobs like myself and the OP?
