Yeah I've been wondering that for years now. A lot of players seemingly are all only interested in the striking. Maybe it's the Fight Night players, maybe people are just more into boxing, whatever.

I haven't played online since I got confronted with people just quitting when the game hit the ground and I denied the first two obvious transitions they did. Surely that "data" must've gotten to EA somehow. All these disconnections...

Both of these reasons should've driven people to stand and bang. I think they are just too afraid to champion this mode as it might expose the game for having a limited number of people playing online, as you're dividing the community.

Iíll just say online there is not much difference from
The previous game. You can throw multiple strikes per minute so any other changes donít matter (in my opinion). The biggest difference is sim mode and AI play. Normal or hard difficulty is the best, legendary AI throws 100-120 strikes a round and is like an online player lol.

But normal or hard, the AI fights smart. Stakes feel high, and Iíve never had more fun on a ufc game

The demo seems locked to sim mode. There's no training or explaining the new submission mode. Just guesswork what your stamina meter is. Bit weird honestly.

After playing over 6 matches, the fighting does feel smoother than UFC3. I don't notice a significant difference between 4 and 5.

The knockdowns seem a little more diverse, there's finally walkouts, there's a special KO replay which is nice. But the replay still shows the same random sequence 3 times.

I'm in the middle about the new submission system. It seems they cut a bunch of positions in favor of just 2, and you gain the option of striking from that position. Once you transition to the submission you instantly submit them.

At mentioned by others before, CAF mode seems exactly the same. Not a single new item. The cringefest of pre- and post-fight animations continues. I couldn't even select a short muay thai pants for my fighter (wth?).

After the beta I replayed 4 and 3 to see the difference, and ultimately stuck with 3 for the rest of the evening. If that's not telling about how I feel about the game, then I don't know.

people are bored its the same system since ea ufc 2 with none upgrade, ea ufc 4 at the best downgraded the ground and pound

I accept your immediate resignation from this conversation. Two weeks notice would have been more professional though. Turn in your ID and I'll mail your final paycheck.
We've definitely interacted. We have similar wants and desires for the game. I think we differ on expectations of how realistic it is that those wants will get developed, and what goes into those decisions and what that means for overall health (revenue) of the game.

I'm not really interested in EA's bottom line, more that MMA games make enough money and get enough people to buy that they keep being made.

Security...please escort this man off the property. He resigned and is unauthorized to be here.

Bad joke. Look, I'm sorry if i came across like a DB. I have a tendency to do that at times. I recognize it and I do actively work on not getting mouthy. I don't remember interacting, but if you say we did, we probably did. Only names I really remember having brief conversations with are aholbert and fishingtime.

100% CAF freedom and a serviceable clinch are really the only things I have a major gripe about. I don't think those two items are an unrealistic expectation considering we had them.

Cage grinding: Sorry, but this excuse of "people dont like getting stuck against the cage" doesnt sit well with me because cage grappling and ground grappling (like we had in 3) are the same transition based concept. It was the same damn thing except you either had your back on the mat or your back on the cage. Why not scrap ground grappling too if you dont wanna get "stuck" and pounded on? They simplified striking (which i didnt know till the other day) and grappling in 4. Why not do the same for clinch grappling instead of dumping it? They gave the non grappling fans stand and bang. Why manipulate the MMA option to also cater to those folks. Grappling is grappling and in this video game, it's all the same. I like it. If others don't, then choose the mode where you dont have to worry about it.

CAF: Archetypes are fantastic. Keep em. Use em for online with dedicated stats/moves...but removing offline ability for full stat and move customization sucks. Straight up. Again, why remove the option? Why not ADD the archetypes to the existing system. I don't know game building and coding and blah blah blah. I'm sure its not as easy as "just add it." But considering we had it at one point, I can't imagine it would be some dramatic and costly and time consuming undertaking (especially when it was 3 years between games) to cut n paste and tweak a foundation thats already been framed out in the past.

I also have some gripes about the quality of the CAF system itself. For example...try making Chris Barnett. Give him the "flabby" body type and put in an accurate height of 5'9...dude looks like a black Danny Devito in there. Same at 5'10-6'0. Then add 1 or 2 more inches in height and the black Danny Devito is now looking like Emmanual Yarborough? Plus, the guy is an absolute powerhouse and I cant tweak his movesets that incorporate his sheer power and some of the surprising "high flying" attacks hes capable of. I dunno. Creating is a fun part for me. And it was stripped away versus having archetypes running in tandem.

We had the stuff before. We just wanna have it back. Theres alot of people who are vocal and talking about the same thing i am (clinch and caf).

This is key. Nobody would be so negative if they just refused to implement it. But they included it, and they took it away, reasons still obscure. People remember. The key to making a series is to keep improving on the formula. Almost all companies do it, even EA (with FIFA), so people are nudged to buy the next version as it's "just that teeny bit better". But now they changed it so much that EAUFC5 is no longer strictly the best version. It will divide the community.

2k also did that - WWE chain wrestling for instance - but only to features that most people wouldn't miss or at least be vocal about. It's just the "GM mode" that they kept on nagging about, until it made it back years later, with a significant increase in both sales and green reviews, partly because of this.
