I hope this level of detail will be in all sports games this upcoming generation.

"a hudless game isn't the ultimate goal"

it's why ufc 2009 was so awesome before the patch. It's not streetfighter where you need to know your numerical 'energy' representation.

After all the fight night's (my fav was 1 or 2) there is no hype for me it's all about a demo. If it has counter-window's or any other 'gamey' elements I'm out. Just make it a game that makes sense within itself and feels organic. Who cares is a #3 MLG guy insists he needs gauges to compete at the highest level online, it kills it for the majority.

I do not think the director is talking about stamina like HUD elements. He knows this is not street fighter, trust me.

I've never been more hyped for a game in my life.

Stamina is broken in Fight Night Champion. The creative director here (Brian Hayes) and EA Canada were behind Fight Night Champion.

That is not to say they haven't gained knowledge from developing games etc., and the Fight Night series wasn't "Street Fighter" like, but it does have some head scratchers where you wonder why they made certain choices.

One of those lessons is a differentiation of the fighters players will face, which takes after the scenario-driven nature of Champion's career mode. Hayes said he wants players to feel like each successive fight is a distinct experience against a unique opponent: For example, one might have a punishing left hand that you have to avoid, while another might be a submission specialist.
I hope that's the case. It certainly wasn't in any of the FN games.
