So this new Imanari Roll. People reeeaaaalllly dont like it.

I made a Masakazu Imanari caf at BW today. If you dont know who Masakazu is, I suggest putting on some knee braces and checking out some of his highlights.

So basically my play style as Imanari is just to keep my distance... Then spam Imanari Rolls and Leg Locks... Lol

The Roll actually leads right into a 2 gate Heelhook from standing. Which ends matches completely out of no where.

Ive received a lot of hatemail today..

Most people dont even know the roll exists, let alone have the timing to deny it. As of right now its insanely powerful. I think once more people realize its a move theyll be able to defend it. But today.... Today ive been tearing guys legs apart and its awesome.

Damn. I get hate mail and people quitting early all the time from submissions and GnP. I can only imagine how pissed you are making people with something they don't even understand

Yeah man. Its pretty funny. If you fail the Roll the opponent gets full mount... But then I just shoot the Heelhook from there. Lmao.

Sometimes my opponent will stand up right away.. So ill stay in the ground on my back and try to bait them into walking into me.. Where I can reverse them from standing into halfguard and then I shoot the kneebar. Lmao.

Too much fun.

This is why I don't play against cafs in my main profile. I'd probably be throwing a hissy fit posting here already if it happened to me, lol.

Think I'll go to practice mode and learn how to deny this before I play online.

When you're on your back and the opponent tries to initiate grappling by just walking into you, you can press L1 and direction to trip them and take a dom half guard position.

So you're basically saying that you're proud of being cheesy? I mean, good for you, mang. Seriously, I'm not even being sarcastic. It's hilarious the amount of people who come to this forum just to complain about others fighting cheesy or using exploits, etc., but then you run into them in ranked and they're worse than anyone else when it comes to that stuff. I won't name any names but there's several of them here.

Be proud of your style. It's refreshing.

Also, while I'm at it, I don't really play UT so I haven't had to deal with it, but how exactly do you deny this? Is it just like denying a takedown?

I do think it's ridiculous that it's only 2-stages, but so are the flying subs, which are equally ridiculous. EA seems to think the most difficult subs to execute IRL should be the easiest to execute in this game for some reason. I'm still hoping they'll eventually hire someone who actually knows a little something about MMA. The "gamechangers" don't appear to be enough.

Well to be fair, I dont normally play like this. Also my extensive knowledge of the the ground game and intricacies of its mechanics is really what lets me get away with it.

Really though if youve seen any Imanari fights, thats really how he fights. Throws almost no strikes, and attacks with extremely unorthodox entries into leg locks, and basically just spams submissions in real life until something sticks. Hes not really a positional Jits guy, he just attacks with constant submissions..

So really, im playing sim. Lol.


I agree the heelhook from the roll being 2 gates is a little insane though.
