    Fighter done right!

I'm always playing as different fighters, and recently I started playing as Luis Smolka a ton. And I gotta say, the Devs made this guy spot on.

His stats are spot on, his perks are spot on, his moves are spot on. I'm super impressed with how much he actually feels like Da Last Samurai.

In his last fight against Ben Ngyen, you saw Smolka attacking with all kinds of different front chokes, and sure enough, he has a ton of front chokes in the game. North South Choke, Anaconda Choke, Darce Choke. I'm loving it.

I wish all the fighters in the game were this accurate!

He is my go to fighter in that division. I love playing with him. I even fought Dave with him when we both wanted to pick him. lol

He has tons of great chokes and is tall and has a good reach plus he has the dreaded Rubber Guard that everyone loves.

I've fought smolka more than anyone else. He's my buddies go to guy and I use holohan. Smolka is good everywhere. Really good rangy kicks and he's solid on ground as he's very hard to keep on ground when he wants to get up. I also think that's one of the funnest weight classes. Even though 90% of the guys that gmfight online use mighty mouse both holohan and smolka can destroy him with their range and hold their own against him. I actually find uncle creepy and pettis to be harder guys to fight other than smolka. You found a good one with smolka. I don't overall means as much as guys make it out. 89 is the highest rated fighter I have in my arsenal. Hell, Vick is a monster and I think he's a 85 or 86. I must 40 or 50 subs on McGregor with him. Love finding those underated guys.

I'm not gonnna lie, I haven't played as anyone but Smolka in the past 4 or so days. I've lost like 2 or 3 times. So yeah, i've been laying the beatdown on d00ds in quick fight.

I love that I can stand with Smolka, and his rangy striking fits my stick n move striking style perfect. What's sweet though, is I can stand with guys, and when the fight goes to the ground, then they are even more screwed.

Dude is just a beast everywhere.

Mighty mouse still has to close the distance, and Smolka's strikes are basically the exact same i give my CAFs. Dude is also a beast on the ground.

At high level play mighty mouse might be king, but the way I play I'd pick Smolka over DJ 10 times out of 10.

For those that care about points, Smolka gets +2 bonus against DJ in ranked.

DJ, Cejudo, Benavidez, Dodson, Horiguchi, Moraga, Borg > Smolka.

Edit: Maybe not Borg but the rest do.

                            Re: Fighter done right!

They can be better but it's sudjective based on your style and the user and matchup. I'm undefeated in ranked and I fight 100% with holoahan and for the hologan smolka is a tough matchup. I moslty play quick match as I'm only 24-0 in ranked.

Dj is the most used guy but most scrubs pick him because his overall is high so moslty when I see Dj it's a easy win.

Dobson has some bombs so I stay away as best I can for a round and let himself wear out a bit then close the gap and try to get to ground in second round. He can be dangerous with a solid user in striking.

Benavidez should be good bUT most giys dont wrestle so he's often wasted, but I love to wrestle and I just can't find the groove with him.

Now horiguchi with a good user is tough, he just won't die. Solid everywhere and can really catch with his fist. Not many guys use him but when someone does he's normally got skills. I try and use range and wear him out a bit before I engage. If he's stalking alot it can be a rough fight for holohan.

Moraga has the skills but rarely see him and when I do he's a easy sub. Got to get him down though. I have no fear of him.

Borg, interesting pick there. I will know in first minute how the fights gonna go. He's has a amazing clinch. Nasty MT. If I fight someone who goes straight to may thai early and can block a early transition get ready for a fight. I really try and get him to the ground and keep in my guard and go for subs after a few transition blocks. I don't try to improve, just transition blocks and reversals. Let him make the mistake.

McCall is a rough fight for holohan if the guys if the user is solid stand up and clinch. He can go straight to muay thai and is nasty there. Has some solid subs too. He's another that u have to wear out. Guys who use him are normally aggresive so I try and move alot and stay away from cage.

Smolka has the range like holohan and just about better everywhere. If I was better at stand up I would use him over anyone else. I just can't use his kicks to fullest but I also fight sim and don't string long combos together. I try not to abuse the flaws in the game.
There is one other guy, white guy from Russia maybe. He can be tough as the eis one guy I face alot who always uses him he come out stalking and never relents and that fighter fits that style well. He can get up from ground well also and is tough to sub. Forget his name but he is rarely used online. I do face a few guys good with pettis he has some range but I can't use him very well.

Reis is really really good if u have skills on ground. Great perks and sub levels for a few subs. Again, my lack of striking ability and his lack of range make fighting with him pretty tough unless I get to ground. Its hard to take on Dj with him and why I don't use him much as most guys only pick dj.

As far aa holohan goes, expect to take a little beating in the first round vs good users. I either get a fast sub in the first or the fight goes to later rounds. Keep good ground fighters in your guard and rubber guard. Wear them down from here with transition blocks and use some strikes but sparingly. The ultimate goal is to submit them with inverted triangle from side control. It's a easy sub to land and complete because its pretty easy to get a few transition blocks from side control. If u get through first gate it's over. I think its just a 2 gate sub but might be three. Doesn't matter as if u get through first he's toast. For striking use your jab, uppercut to bust up the gay long combos guys through. Push kick to stomach to keep range. I don't through fast combos, I use a slight delay between punches so I get a easy landing strike when they miss on the parry. He's got good chokes so try and set them up. I would say 70% of my wins are from subs and the rest ground and pound. I can't remember my last straight up knockout.

But it's all subjective to your style and ability. I know I can fight good with dj on ground but I just can't use him well in the strinking game, as I'm actually better with holohan for some reason.

This is a great weight class. Alot of balance with the exception of dj. The other guys have ranging skills and move levels. If you learn what high level moves each fighter has you can game plan much better for each fighter and know what to avoid. I really use tactics that drain stamina. I save energy as best I can and wait for them to make mistakes. Make sure you playing on real time to make use of the stamina. I also set my fights to 5 rounds though I can't remember the last decision I made it too.
