I know how to win rounds extremely well on this game, I believe I'm pretty accurate when it comes to judging how much significant strikes weigh against regular strikes etc, but me and a mate just did an experiment that makes me question everything and made us think WTF? Now I feel like I don't have a clue haha.

We both got 1 takedown each per round with 0 ground passes. He got the takedown after me every round and sat in my guard throwing punches for the duration of all 3 rounds. I lay on my back and each round I landed more punches than him on purpose to see who would get the win (most strikes vs top position and strikes). The first round I landed double to his strikes (60 vs 120). The second round I landed 40% more (60 vs 100). The third round I landed 86 and he landed 82.

The scorecards: 30-27 to me, 30-27 to him, 29-28 to me.
I win via split decision. Whaaaat??

I'm thinking maybe one judge scores total strikes & sig strikes, one judge scores purely on top position or general control i.e. the guy who spent longer in a dominant position wins, and one judge is just a mix of both or something? This would explain why one judge gave it to him 30-27 based on CONTROL and why one judge gave it 30-27 to me based on STRIKES.

@GPD, any idea how the judging TRULY works on this game?

This is how a dev explained all they will say on it. Remember, they can't go into full detail because it would be easy to point fight with that knowledge.

Add in rubber guard and sub attempts, and you have a decision machine. Been saying this for so long.

Just ran a couple tests. The grappling judge and the striking judge aren't 100% about grappling and striking. They do take both into account but the grappling judge favours grappling heavily and the striking judge favours striking heavily. It's probably like 50/50 percent wise for the judge that takes both into account and like 75/25 or 80/20 for the grappling and striking judges leaning towards their preferred style.
