Khabibs striking
Now that we have seen that weird fight. Can we please see khabib get his power dropped to the mid 80s where it belongs... he is no danger to anyone on the feet... in the game he has elite one punch ko power....

Re: Khabibs striking
I said in another thread that his boxing isn't good before the fight but EA probably gonna give him an overall stat boost.Last edited by Paledude45; 04-08-2018, 01:36 AM. -

Re: Khabibs striking
His stand up and stand up defense is not very good, he's never been known for either at all esp lately. Comparing those images to the game, I'm sure even with a proper nerfing in his striking he'd still be able to TKO a guy like Thaigo like that if he was even in the game or UFC and we all know an uppercut like that will knock down anyone. But he doesn't have much going for him in stand up irl.Comment

Re: Khabibs striking
Yh his striking is nothing great, but he has hurt and ko'd ppl standing as you saw in those gifs so he does have some power. Al is just a tough customer also.Comment

Re: Khabibs striking
It's easier for your striking to look if your opponent is terrified of the takedown.
I thought some of Khabib's striking looked good, I liked that jab. The commentators made some good points, but could have said more positive about some of Khabib's offense.
I don't know who wins in a fight against Ferguson.Comment

Re: Khabibs striking
Barbosa isn't elite?
Not arguing with you about his ability on his feet. He's as basic as anyone could be in MMA and his defense is really amateur. However, he makes it work against guys like Barbosa, whom I consider to be top tier striking.Comment

Re: Khabibs striking
He's sort of similar to Gustaffson, in that if you just give Barboza his range or are just too slow to close distance, he'll **** you up but as soon as he is forced to fight on the retreat, a lot of his game is fairly weak.Last edited by Nugget7211; 04-08-2018, 03:24 AM.**** off, Nugget7211 - GPD, 2017 & 2018

Re: Khabibs striking
I think Khabib on the feet is...maybe competent (= good enough to hold his own) but a huge factor in this is the opponent's fear of being taken down, the only factor actually, and if things go south he can always resort to the takedown. The chin was really up in the air, that much was clear. Having said that, I thought he'd maul Ferguson but now I'm not so sure. Ferguson won't hold back like Al and he probably wouldn't even care if Khabib goes for a takedown. If such a fight ever happens, Khabib better not fool around and keep things grounded (and not stall either, because Tony is a threat on the ground too). Quite an enlightening fight, really showed us more.Last edited by Kingslayer04; 04-08-2018, 08:30 AM.Comment

Re: Khabibs striking
Besides, that's all you really need. He has the ability to hurt people. Sloppy technique or not.
What's your argument anyway? He didn't hurt or KO Al?
- He jabbed him 99% of the fight.
- Al is tough as nails
- Even known power punchers go through some fights not putting their opponents in the amount of trouble you'd expect when they connect (Ngannou/Stipe, McGregor/Diaz, Iaquinta this fight)
His technique is unrefined, but to argue that we now know he doesn't have power because of this one fight is a tremendous leap in logic.Comment
