The game would sell twice as much. It’s a long demanded mode. Why can’t we get what we want?

I don't know, I have offered long breakdowns and detailed suggestions. But I do take offense to someone talking on my behalf, asking for things i don't want, and then calling me a child when i point out that this game would not sell TWICE as much by putting in an effing pride mode in.
how about they use the resources to... I don't know... make grappling that actually works.Comment

Re: What is stopping pride mode from being in ufc?
I really think people underestimate how long ago Pride stopped being a thing. It held its last event in October 2007. If you came into MMA during GSPs reign, you missed Pride. If you came into MMA with Brock, you missed Pride. Same thing with Conor, same thing with Ronda.
I don't know the turnover rate of fans (not even sure the data exists), but I'd be fairly shocked if the majority of current UFC fans cared at all about Pride and the people that have been into MMA for the 11+ years you'd have to be to have any real attachment to Pride are probably buying the game anyway.
Having said all that, I'd love a Pride mode, it'd be cool as ****. I just am not convinced it would sell as many copies as some people seem to think it would**** off, Nugget7211 - GPD, 2017 & 2018

Re: What is stopping pride mode from being in ufc?
It wouldn't do that for the sales. The majority of people that are looking for PRIDE in a videogame in this current day are the exact same people that still watch the UFC today. It would probably bring some new sales but I doubt it will be significant.
The reason why they need to add it is because it provides a lot of content. I remember being asked if it would have been worth it over a career mode. And I said no. Probably not. But looking back at it now, who still plays that career mode? Yeah. Exactly. If there was a Pride mode, we'd play it every other match.
That said though, do not underestimate the kind of effort would go into such a mode. The entire presentation could as well be a new game. From visuals to audio, if you want it done the right way, it is a lot of work. I do think it would provide a lot though. Especially if they can get the card penalties in there too. And movesets. All of the good stuff.
If we look back at prior games, they were lacking significantly in core gameplay. But I think they have reached a really good point now where they should definitely consider looking into what adds the most as far as replay value goes. The game had to have a career mode but both that and the Ultimate Team mode.. I don't think these modes have been getting received all that well and the latter especially has taken some horrendous directions in its design.
They should really consider it for UFC 4. It can be used as a feature to sell the game, and unlike Ultimate Team, which they butchered, and career mode, that nobody plays more than once, this would last a long time, if done well.
Let's revisit an interview with Brizzo for EA UFC 3.
PRIDE is dead?
No, it’s not really that. I mean, PRIDE never dies. But I mean, its more so that, if you think about, when the GSP comeback, and I remember reading some pieces about that, and how the UFC themselves, they were kind of like, you know, “hey, why is the buzz for this lower than we expected?” And I read a couple articles that said like the research that was out there, and that they has done, they realized that the, a large number of fans that have gotten into the UFC was with the growth of Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey, which basically happened just after GSP retired. So to hear that, I mean, forget PRIDE, for there to be people out there that are like, “Who’s this GSP guy that they’re making such a big deal about?”
That is for the truly, truly, truly hardcore. And so, its just one of those things where, you know, it’s a bigger priority for us to focus on improving Career Mode and improving overall gameplay. Again, not to say that there aren’t people you know, on the team like, “Hey, we should look at pride mode.” And I’m one of those people, but it always does come back to okay, like, we’re trying to make, we’re trying to satisfy the largest number of people and stay current with where the sports going. And, yeah, its just an unfortunate sort of reality that time moves forward and we’re only ever getting further and further away from PRIDE, but it still never dies.

Re: What is stopping pride mode from being in ufc?
Great posts, and I agree. Pride mode would be a fun addition, but I suspect it would take a considerable amount of resources to get it right. And it would cater to a fan base that's already here. Same with the Icon fighters. I'd honestly rather have had Sugar Sean, Israel, Lesnar, and Zabit, but i get it, a little bit of both is a good thing.
I'd rather see them put time into universe mode, a more immersive career mode, an overhaul of the grappling and clinch gameplay, a real thorough fix on the controllers. All to bring in NEW players, and fans that can't get over the initial difficulties of this game.Comment

Re: What is stopping pride mode from being in ufc?
The game lacks content. Career Mode is shallow and straightforward, no Universe mode, nothing really, nothing truly engaging. A lot of effort will be needed to make the game alive, but what may be more important is that a lot of resources will likely be needed as well. Hopefully they can make a truly immersive game, with a Career Mode where the world really lives around you, and a Universe mode doing the same thing. Or at least one ot them, but fully-fledged. One can hope but if they put in the same effort in grappling in 4 like they did in striking for 3, it seems unlikely. It wouldn't do that for the sales. The majority of people that are looking for PRIDE in a videogame in this current day are the exact same people that still watch the UFC today. It would probably bring some new sales but I doubt it will be significant.

Re: What is stopping pride mode from being in ufc?
Like Brizzo's comment said, PRIDE never dies man. I'd be all for PRIDE being in the game at some point in the future. Especially now that we have open weight tournaments. Like others have said though, it will be something more popular among the hardcore's. Still, that's not to say they couldn't or shouldn't include it. You can always bring new fans up to speed. For example when undisputed included PRIDE, they gave in depth descriptions about PRIDE rules in training mode and you could also look at the history of it and stuff in the glossary section too. I'm sure it would be a fun addition and players would love it. I mean you can stomp fools in the face and kick them in the head...only ppl that watch disney channel wouldn't love such violence. The main issue is the amount of time, effort and money that would go into adding a legit PRIDE experience may really just not be worth it in terms of how well these games sell sadly. That said though, i'm a hardcore and i'd still be all for PRIDE being in the game.Comment

I'd like it but its not worth the effort imo. I'd rather them focus on adding gameplay elements that can be used in every mode not just one mode. I'd also rather see a Universe mode than this.Comment

Which is actually what Pride would provide when done in the way that Undisputed 3 approached it.
Unlike the career mode and Ultimate Team, the big draws for UFC 3 that probably nobody even plays anymore now.
If we're talking replay value what would beat a mode like Pride? Or we can keep gambling 2 year development cycles on career modes that may or may not eventually reach a point where people are going to want to play it more than once.
You can not release a game without a career mode and nobody would even want to consider it, understandably. But how often do they really nail these? Not so much.
I think these are incredibly linear modes and almost never provide replay value. But are simply needed because they are expected to be there.Comment

Add Pride as an alternate organization that competes with the UFC, or even allow the user to run that one and compete against the UFC, now you've got something incredible.

I'm not talking about replay value with that statement. I'm talking about mo-cap for moves like soccer kicks that can only be used in Pride mode. Things that are specific to Pride.Which is actually what Pride would provide when done in the way that Undisputed 3 approached it.

I think a Universe/Franchise mode would have way more replay value than Pride mode. As much as I liked UD3, I think people overestimate the strength of the Pride brand and whether simply having a mode like that will draw and keep new consumers.
You know how every sports game draws offline gamers? Franchise modes. But for some dumb reason, MMA games always go the career mode only route. With the exceptions of games like Fight Night, most individual career modes are played once and then forgotten.Comment

Imagine the possibilities for an MMA game that had a Universe Mode with crossover saves from game to game like MLB the Show.I'm not talking about replay value with that statement. I'm talking about mo-cap for moves like soccer kicks that can only be used in Pride mode. Things that are specific to Pride.
