Right, a few notes to start this thread off: I know this isn't EA sports' UFC3, I figured with all the talks about THQ's Undisputed series, and a manager/universe mode in a upcoming UFC4 that it's worth making a thread to talk about this tiny indie game.

I've been looking around, checking out videos and the official website and I've been wondering if I should get the game. And to be honest how to get the game, I know there's a forum on their site, but it doesn't seem very newbie friendly, so I figured it was worth a shot to share it here on this forum to get a conversation going. Here's a few questions I have.
    1. How easy is it to get this game and install it? (with a up to date real fighters mod) looks like a small cluster**** to me.
    2. Anyone here tried it? do you recommend it? Any major flaws?
    3. Is there's something in this game that can be applied to a possible upcoming UFC4?

I havent tried 5 but I played 2 and 3. I like the game alot but you have to like text based sims since there arent any real graphics and you dont control who fights. I think I still have 3 on my computer.

    - It was easy for me to install and there are likely FAQs on the forums that will walk you through installing mods.

    - They could apply this to UFC 4 if they decided to focus all of their mode development time on adding these features. WMMA is deep as hell. Its not just a matchmaker game. You are negotiating deals with TV networks. You are scouting and negotiating deals with fighters. You are resigning your fighters. Drug testing (Dont see the UFC allowing that in their game).

There are definetly things that EA could add but keep in mind the depth of WMMA is related to the fact that the team at Grey Dog has done nothing but add features over 5-6 yrs. The interface has stayed the same. Graphics are the same. When you focus solely on mode building you can do that.

      Re: WMMA5 - Be A Manager

I've tried some of the WMMA games but I used to play a bit of TEW back in the day. They are relatively easy to get to work. However, there is a bit of a learning curve to the actual game. I didn't play WMMA long enough but at least TEW got a bit jarring with how much time micromanaging everything actually takes. It's not as simple as booking cards you'd like to see.
      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

        @MacGowan

        I've played WMMA 3-5.

How easy is it to get this game and install it? (with a up to date real fighters mod) looks like a small cluster**** to me.
        A. Full and demo download is here: http://greydogsoftware.com/wmma-5/
Purchase through their store here: https://www.elicense.com/greydogsoft...tore/index.asp
They will give you a license key which you will enter during Game startup one time.

Anyone here tried it? do you recommend it? Any major flaws?
        A. Like what aholbert wrote, if you like text sims and you enjoy the matchmaking/management/promotion aspect of MMA then you should get this. The fight engine is also pretty deep even though it is text based.
        Flaws:
        - As with any text and management sim, learning curve is a bit high.
        - Be ready to click a lot, although this has been much improved compared to previous iterations.
        - When you use a UFC mod like you see in those screenshots, performance is quite slow. Given the sheer volume of data processing going on, simming from day to day can test your patience. However if you play using the out of the box world, it performs pretty well. I don't usually like fake rosters in these types of games but there's a lot of personality here.

Is there's something in this game that can be applied to a possible upcoming UFC4?
        A. This is pretty much WWE's universe mode. I think many people have already been asking for this to be implemented in EA UFC.

This game implemented in EA UFC would be the dream, but that'll never happen.

I've played this game a lot lately and it's really good (easily one of my favorite releases the last year), but it's not for everyone as there's no graphics apart from fighter pics. You can play it as a booking sim or as a fight sim where you just observe the game world, which is what I do. So technically I'm not really "playing" it. AI is quite good and will book realistic cards. The game world is very dynamic.

It's really easy to install with mods. You just need to unzip it in the right spot. I can see some people having trouble with the "elicense" system but it's not intrusive and only riggers upon installation.

I am so happy you have started this thread!!!

I got WMMA 3 off Steam for about £2.99 a few months back and have played it sporadically, I like it but just dont have the time to fully delve into it as much as would like!

One thing I simply have not been able to do is install a real life mod (which is what I really want). I am terrible with tech and I couldnt even figure out following Youtube (I blame it on being old).

I am tempted to get WMMA 5 but for some reason keep failing to pull the trigger on it!

Well I'm 2 days into my run as owner of a ****ty small European promotion. Loving the game so far.

Was a bit of a headache to install:
              - Download retail version
              - purchase the game in-game... looked sketchy as ****.
              - Download latest patch on their forum.
              - Download real world Mod (Modern warrior), too bad they stopped updating it in March 2018.
              - Install Mod. getting the picture folders to work was a small headache, and I can't get creating new fighters and importing headshots to work.

Oh well... I'll play it for a week and see where I stand on it, but lots of fun in-game managment issues and fun creative control, like making online broadcasts, or new belts. the turn time is a bit long with the large mod, but I'll live.

I can see lots of cool things that can be used in UFC 4, but yes, this game is far too deep and complex to be made into a mode.

                That’s sounds cool

Just give me the basics of this mode and customization of Fire Pro Wrestling (ability to edit tendencies in addition to ratings/perks). That’d go a long way towards replayability

You should get commission, this thread made me buy the game. I'm just playing with the default database, so GAMMA and ALPHA-1 ( supposed to be like UFC and PRIDE ).

I'm playing as ALPHA-1 and it's super fun, easily sunk over 20 hours already and love planning the events/building hype for fighters and seeing them succeed or fail. The default database has so many colorful characters too that are very similar to popular icons from that time ( Palmer Lette is basically Bob Sapp ).

I signed a bunch of bantamweights and featherweights and threw them into a combined weight class to fight for the belt ( will eventually split it into 135 and 145 )

I also started a womens division, super fun game. I'm gonna finish this run with ALPHA-1 and then do GAMMA, after that i'll experiment with the mods more.

I really like the mod cuz it's easier to remember things. oh ONE Championship stole my Japanese fighter? I can understand that. Oh i got Hellboy to main my show? I can understand why.

I just put on the greatest event in London, infront of 146 people..... Now I have 31$ in my company account.

Btw it’s definitely possible to add tendencies in the form of Attributes. I’m a modder for the game and I’ve made a balanced expansion for the base game where fighters behave how i want them to behave. A pity you haven’t got full control over talent level but then again it makes every game different.

I’m preying there can be a community-wide effort to improve the UFC/real mod. But it’s such a monumental task that it pains me to even think about it.

I think it was the second version that I really got caught up with. I was running the game’s version of the UFC and I was trying to sign the game’s version of Fedor who was fighting in Japan and I couldn’t get the deal done. I remember being furious. Lol. Like legit angry that he kept turning down my deals.

Haha, I don't have too many issues with the game yet. One thing is maybe some of the fighters can be divas and won't fight deserving high ranked guys because they're not a big enough draw.

I haven't had trouble signing anyone except the #1 Featherweight Philip Ziskie, he basically said F me and went off to GAMMA ( UFC ) to dominate there

Their fame is also relative to the region they are fighting in, I believe.

It says 1-8 players can play. Is this online? I would love to compete against y'all trying to build the best organization.

I'm so poor. Company is -8000$ in the red every month. We're not making enough money on these small quality shows. I go to Extreme Sport begging for a TV Deal, we need to keep the ship afloat.

I'm dying here. I call in FITE TV, only station that will even take my calls.

7 PPV show contract. First one is in Holland. 4 fights, quality is mediocre, but it will do.
45 000$ on the PPV buys! Thank god! thank god! I'm rich!

                              Wait? what's this?

                              -77 000$ production cost.

I'm losing money on this TV deal?? I'm 40 000$ in debt?? This TV Deal is the end of me!
