    Realistic expectations

I wanted to make a thread to gauge the communities realistic expectations for the upcoming game. I don’t want this to be about bashing the previous game, Or a whole bunch of things we wanna see but realistically won’t. Just what do you all realistically expect?

    I’ll start with three:
    1. New submission game
    2. Change in stamina system to increase the stamina tax in a fight
    3. Improvements to the career mode

    Realistically, I expect:

    - Improved grappling/clinching
    - Expanded roster (the addition of WFTW and WFLW classes....and of course updates throughout all the classes
    - Maybe not as many as we want, but with all the rumblings about CAF improvements I gotta believe we'll see more than 22 slots.
    - Wider variety of animations

Good call with the roster. I definitely expect a deeper roster this time out with those weight classes you mentioned.

I think we all anticipate a bigger roster with every new release. It always happens to a degree, but tbh honest last games reveal was a bit disappointing. I forget the actual number, but when I added up characters new to the game at launch it was small. The DLC and support was awesome though...so I try not to get too discouraged thinking about this years release going like it did in 2018.

The other sports titles get incredible roster and CAF slot treatments. Granted, character models here are far different than a 3rd string rookie guard model in Madden (and the turn around of fighters with decent name power in MMA varies greatly from other sports) but I have to imagine theres room to get us much deeper than where we're at today.

I just hope roster updates are logical too. I hope we don't see duplicate fighters just for the sake of filling out a class. Take WFTW....theres what...half a dozen women officially on the books as a 45ers in the UFC? I can really only realistically see Nunes and Anderson getting a 45 treatment based on their time in the UFC and name recognition (even de Randamie too since she held the strap once upon a time....and cyborg too if she isn't blacklisted)….but would we really need a 35 and 45 Holm or Kunitskaya? If their 45 slots are taking up room for another possible character somewhere, I'd rather combine classes for a "145 Nunes-Holm" rematch if that means we have an opening where we could slip Luis Pena into the 55 bracket.

            Re: Realistic expectations

-Improvements to clinch with more ability to move. Pushing and pulling with more reactive/faster strikes

-Improved Ground and Pound. More speed, more fluidity and less dead time between transitions and immediately after takedowns

            -Better stamina logic

-improvements to the damage/knock down/KO system

            -improvement ground movement overall

-improved takedown logic. Not quite chain wrestling though

            -Deeper Roster

-Some limited striking animation variance but will still leave a lot to be desired

            Bonus:
Any improvement to submissions and lack of mini game

              Re: Realistic expectations

Realistically I expect MAJOR changes to every aspect of the grappling. Remember technically UFC 3 still had UFC 2 grappling since they only worked on the striking and made no changes to grappling. So I don't think expecting big changes for it is unrealistic.

                Re: Realistic expectations

I expect gameplay to be better than the previous game to a degree where I no longer care to play the previous game. That has happened with each game in the series thus far, so I expect that to happen again.

As far as game modes go, that’s where the potential disappointment lies. I’ll be disappointed if we end up with another bare bones career mode and no real alternative offline mode. I’ll also be disappointed if they continue with Ultimate Team like it was in UFC 3.

The only thing I expect, are changes to gameplay, and I’d expect at least some changes to all aspects of it. Even if it’s just minor changes.

I think that expecting new modes or complete overhauls of gameplay mechanics is probably unrealistic. Would it be great? Definitely. Could it happen? Sure. But I’m not sure it’s realistic to expect that there will be full on reworks/overhauls to grappling. I think it’s much more likely that they just tweak it slightly and add loads of new positions and a few new mechanics. Think back to the post-launch of UFC 3. Think of all the new grappling stuff they added via patches. The new takedowns, the driving takedowns, cage positions, etc. I think it’s reasonable to expect much more of that sort of stuff to be added to the game.

                      Re: Realistic expectations

                      MAJOR grappling upgrade.

                      Clinch upgrade/overhaul.

Anything else is just icing on the cake for me. Those are the two things I think they should have devoted the most time into.
