Thoughts on New Ranked System/Leaderboard?

I'm a bit of a leaderboard whore what can I say.

Unfortunately, EA once again took two steps forward, two steps back on the Ranked System/Leaderboards .... !!!!

PROS

- 20 Divisions means Better Matchmaking

- Being able to see opponent's points & division (I wish this was AFTER you already loaded the fight though! So people don't backout)

- 2 Prospect Fights then Champ fight (I prefer this at least)


CONS

- Lack of Transparency! Where is a detailed readout of WHY we earned or lost the points we did?

- Another Missed Opportunity for more depth & cool metrics. Simple filters anyone can add to an Excel spreadsheet would allow us to see who has the best record of Sam Alvey or Dan Henderson; who has the most Subs with Maia; etc .... it's 2020 and we have some of the most basic leaderboards ever

- Why do you force us to do math to find out how many losses someone has? Has the world really gotten that sensitive?? lol

- One weight class per day smh



Yes there are more important things to worry about right now w/ the game than leaderboard/ranked structure but this is still an important long-term component of the game for a lot of people ... EA please consider patching improvements to leaderboard system???

I've only played ranked for a few hours so maybe I missed something. Or maybe the full game will have a different setup than the trial....plus I haven't checked out the Fighter Profile much yet so maybe some improvements there.....


I'm still going to give Ranked my best, but I'll probably be much more focused on LECs at this point

Yes I agree with all of that and it needs to change - if it doesn't my time with this game will be extremely limited.

They should give us 2 or 3 weight classes a day that cant be toggled off. Just randomly assigned for each fight

Like why is it bantamweight again today it was just bantamweight 2 days ago. I literally dont even want to play today now. I wanted lightweight or middleweight because we havent seen that yet

i was never bothered by the locked weight class until i thought about whole days of fighting nothing but Adaysana spamming body knees and hooks from jab range lol.

The fact that you could have days off from work and they could be weightclasses you hate is supremely disappointing. This is just a bad idea and should be revised.

Yeah I don’t get to play online every day. Or even more than a couple days a week. I don’t want to fight the same class over and over when I do get to play. They’ve got to open up weight classes.

Maybe do three a day, one women’s, one lighter male division (WW-) and one heavier male division (MW+). That’ll keep matchmaking quick while giving a solid set of options for variety.

I don't like the single locked weight class. I'm hopeful that this gets changed.

I'd prefer that instead of viewing PSN profiles we're able to see their Player Hub and see stuff like most used fighters. Like how it was in UFC 1 and UFC 2.

Also it's annoying that title fights are only 3 rounds. I don't know what that was about

I've been Champ a few times, and defended a few times..maybe 6 fights...I think all were 3-rounds?? Maybe I missed it but idk

I remember reading that "Championship fights vs. Prospects will be 3 rounds" when you're a champion ... fair enough ... but doesn't explain the 3-round fights where I took the strap.

I often had one of the longest average fight durations during the Live Event Competitions b/c I love to be patient and fight into the 3rd, 4th, even 5th round. This doesn't help my style. Definitely helps pressure fighters though as per usual

I mean people are just gonna play with who they are gonna play with and you can’t blame them for going top tier. It’s the same with any competitive game. But limiting ranked to one weight class per day is complete BS. Can you imagine 2k going one division only per day? Street Fighter doing only shootos today in ranked? COD doing one weapon in MP per day? There are just so many stupid game play design and choices in this game

It seems the weighclasses are changing like every hour or so now. It changed to Flyweight earlier and now changed to Women's Bantamweight

This is GREAT news! My only problem with ranked now is the ability to see your opponent's gamertag/psn id before the match starts, which allows cherry picking players.
