Long story short: In the new live competition, all fighters have 'even stats'.

After putting in about 50 fights over the weekend....I've come to the conclusion that there are some weird things that take place when fighters have the exact same stats.

Have you all noticied any hiccups or oddities from the 'even stats'?

This is most obvious on the ground it seems. There are many times when it looks like I completed my transition BEFORE opponent even begins their transition; but HIS transition completes before mine!

Which is weird, b/c I have top position...some GA...higher stam...but he still out transitions me from the bottom, when MY animation begins before his by far?

Then it's like the grapple meter 'disappears' just before it fills up.

It's hard to explain in words lol

It just seems that there are some weird things that happen with even stats; perhaps some sort of 'tiebreaker' mechanic that throws things off. Thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone else noticed it.

Somewhat similar to the weird things that happen when you lag...but seemed to happen during even relatively lag-free fights

Maybe I'm just hallucinating from playing too much UFC lol

(no, I'm not, something definitely weird going on )
Could it be perks? There are some perks that effect grappling and make your transitions go faster.

good point but I believe the only ground perk available is Work Horse which has to do with stamina as opposed to transition speed

(well actually that's not true; there's a Guard Specialist perk that speeds up transitions in ground; but a lot of the weird things I've been seeing are in half guard or even full mount)

This of course assumes all people have the same perks available to them? I've started this mode 4 times; 2x with Werdum; 1x with Belfort; 1x with Souza; each time I had the exact same 10 perks to choose from. I assume we all have the same perks to choose from?

Negative Reinforcement....guard specialist....pay to miss...untouchable...work horse...desperate measures....and a few more

Ya i notice this at the start of playing, and throw on top ppl's lag and you have a very unresponsive ground game.

Ive noticed that it is harder to deny transitions in this mode as well. Extremely frustrating.

yup I definitely noticed that. I thought it would be EASIER to deny on the ground in this mode, since everyone had even stats and I was used to UT as a boxer where I didn't (usually) have stat advantage

But I swear my OVR 78 MW Boxer (with like 69 ground stats maybe) seems to be able to deny better than Werdum or Souza in this mode lol

+1 on the takedowns. Nearly impossible vs. a decent opponent. My denials rarely work. I assumed it was all lag, as the last update ruined my game-- horrendous lag in all game modes. I'm super bummed, my favorite game is entirely unplayable now.
