You just got hit with a lag spike.
I most certainly am not paranoid. Convenient timing for that "lag spike " as you say Mr BluRay

The timing doesn't really matter. If the lag spike hit during a clinch, he hit you with a knee, you would be making the same accusation. If the lag spike hit during standup and he hit you with a superman punch you would again make the same accusation.

The chances of a lag spike happening when SOMETHING is happening is pretty good. EA UFC 2 is a pretty fast paced game.

Nope. Every time this has occurred it's been during a submission. Thanks for your input though Mr BluRay

Then it would be more likely a bug in the netcode, if EVERYTIME it happens it is during a submission...

since hypothetically speaking, if lag switches do work in EA UFC 2 (which they don't...), it would be MUCH easier to use them right away at the beginning of the match and just KO your opponent standing while they are unable to block, due to the lag switch blocking all their packets.... rather than hope to take the opponent to the ground, lock on a submission then turn on the lag switch.

Why bother going through all that trouble, when you can just KO your opponent in 30 seconds by blocking their ability to move or block with a lag switch?

By using common sense, it is easy to determine that nobody is using lag switches and if they are, all they will do is disconnect the user from the match... (since EA UFC 2 doesn't use a host client P2P system)

"Lag switch" is just another way for players to make excuses for their loss.

Re: Tournament players are using lag switches

Mrbluray, you are correct that lag switches don't work on UFC and even if they did, the result wouldn't be what the video showed. But you're getting caught in the terminology; there are other ways to introduce lag into the game, and we all know lag benefits the attacker in the submission game.

Instead of dismissing the thread because the lag switch doesn't work, try to see the complain for what it is: an indication that there could be cheating going on, regardless of the specific cheat allegedly being used.

Btw, I also agree that the video does not prove anything. It could be coincidental, it could be that during the ground game there's more data to send back and forth, etc. But it certainly looks very suspicious.

drinklime or SwedishTouch76 are not trying to make excuses for their losses. But we do tend to only analyze the situations that ended bad for us and forget about the ones where things ended up ok. I don't have the patience myself, but if you want to get serious about trying to identify cheating, you need proper methodology. Observe several matches, win or lose, lag or no lag, and jot down what you see. And ask the right questions: when it lags, does it happen more often on standup or ground? If you are winning on the ground, does the lag stop? Does the lag sometimes stop even if you are losing on the ground?

You can also try to capitalize on the lag the next time it happens, start a submission before your opponent does. Does the lag stop? Let the submission go and let your opponent start one. Does the lag continue?

Without a larger sample and proper comparison, no conclusions can be drawn.
