To fake you flick the analogue fast, don't hold it. If you keep faking the same way a high level player will eventually catch on and pre-deny it, this is when they anticipate where they're going to go and deny it before you make the move. You want to fake in 2s or 3s; Basically someone can either deny every odd attempt or even attempt, if you fake once then move and then fake twice then move and change it up it's very hard to stop. I don't really recommend moving without faking unless they're on low stamina and always fake out transitions that take longer and have a large window to deny i.e backsitting, takedowns in clinch (unless you use a momentum transition).
There is some transitions you can't really fake out and need to learn best when to move which just takes practice. (using a momentum transition to escape backsitting for example)
