That is literally what is going on in top level fights. Anyone who cycles through the same power combo(s) would get finished in 2 minutes flat.

Just like if you took someone who knew nothing about MMA or grappling and showed them a Demian Maia fight, they'd be watching two guys "lay on each other" where as someone with grappling knowledge would easily be watching all the little intricacies and understand it's beauty.
Each fights between top players must be a chess fight Which is played on the details.
To each players his own style, now the smart thing is to use all the tools the game Puts at our disposal, it's silly to dont use at all parry for any reason.
A top player can be as effective as an other while having a complettely different way to use parry or combos.
I hate most of the time how those top100 players use combo, very ugly and repetitive, exept some guys who are smart and methodical.
i remember a div8 ranked fight i had a couple month, i had Manuwa agaisnt a patient Gustaffson, the first round was very tighten, Each of us two were very careful, we were careful about the distance management and the stamina cause it was a 5Rd fight, We were gone for a tactical decision. In the second round, i decided to accelerate a little bit and try to pressure him, the guy did a mistake concerning his stamina who was low, i caught him in this moment with a high kick and rock him, and I took the opportunity at this moment to combo him and KO him. Before that, no combo. I will not have pressure him until the end of the fight, i changed rhythm for a moment and it worked!
Each player is efficient with his own style.
the fighter selection is for me the most important thing, you dont recognize some players with no OP fighters.

Sacrifice arm traps from dominant mount are a nice way to set up a big stamina advantage for a triangle or something.

I'm struggling to find where I said anything about high/top level fights?

Many, many players have a surprising amount of success simply cycling through the same combos over and over. I see players like this all the time. That's a fact. I didn't say that's what the best players were doing.

You mean the reversal? If it's what I think you're saying I second this. I do it all the time. Good tip

This brings me to the only tip I was going to give. Always pay attention to what your opponent is doing. So many people go on auto pilot and only concentrate on what they have to do. Everybody has tendencies.

It's not really a reversal as far as nomenclatures in the game are concerned. Just the arm trap from dominant mount postured up that if your opponent is successful it puts you in submissive full guard. If you deny the arm trap there is big stamina cost, if you don't even attempt to deny it their isn't really a stamina penalty.
