How should UFC 3 deal with reach and height advantage?

This is mostly an issue for UT, but it can happen in Ranked as well.

In ranked high reach and height are usually offset by the fighter being really slow (Stefan Struve), but this is not always the case.

Chris Weidman, for example, has both huge reach and massive speed, and he has no disadvantage whatsoever in close range.

In UT it is even worse, there is literally no reason not to create a character with max height and reach. What should happen to even it out a little?

Fight Night Champion did this by making shorter reach characters have much more powerful hooks and uppercuts, therefore making them deadly up close. I think this should happen too in the next UFC

Funny to see this after you took struve in our last fight you're right, it was annoying as hell. I think the only reason to make your fighter short is because the stamina loss is lower than with taller ones (not too sure about that though). The roundhouse body kick on struve was for example so annoying. Keeping the distance against a smaller fighter is just too easy.

I'm 27-12 with my 6' 71" reach HW with 0 stamina. The catch? He's a grappler. I have to run away the whole fight until I manage to get a TD. If you're a striker with that kind of disadvantage you're gonna have a bad time

Re: How should UFC 3 deal with reach and height advantage?

This is the answer i think:

5) SHORT REACH VS LONG REACH fighters (balance):
In real physics: shorter hand > less time for it to straighten to its full length/strength (less startup then for long reach fighter the same strike type) > short reach fighters will have more faster the same strike types than long reach fighters, but also the shorter distance.
But on low stamina short reach fighter will loose his speed advantage.
Short reach fighter has SA on short distance, Long reach fighter – on long distance.

Shorter fighters should have slightly better takedown defense

Really? Isn't that just because most shorter fighters are grapplers?
