Canceling Opponents Momentum

These moves actually cancel your opponents Momentum advantage. When you start these moves before or at the same time as an opponents Momentum transition, their meter actually goes backwards and begins again but slower, as if they never had the Momentum to begin with.

These can be useful if your opponent becomes predictable using Momentum Transitions, as I often do. That is how I found these. There are probably more...

Help me Op Spo Community! Overuse Momentum and tell me what works against it, so I can add it to the list.

#1: Posture Up from Full Guard Top
(Cancels Momentum and cancels opponents Momentum Half Guard Sweep transition entirely.)

#2: Kimura from Side Control Top
(Cancels Momentum and makes Kimura faster than Momentum enhanced Get Up. Includes 5 different scenarios in which the Kimura cancels Momentum.)

Very interesting, thanks for posting this. I can't wait until the next time I'm able to get on and play.

Great post James, This is only really known by the top tier players (imo), so it's great of you to post something like this. You'd be surprised how helpful this actually is and how dynamic this makes the ground even more. For instance, if I know someone would posture up after the FG transition, I'd look to block it and perhaps use a jiu-jitsu transition as I'd have GA (or perhaps a wrestling transition if I have stamina advantage).

Again, great post my dude. Keep it up!

I really want to use more technical jujitsu but the only way I usually find I have a large grapple advantage is after I deny a transition, which is also when I usually have a stamina advantage. But I frequently have stamina advantages when I don't have a grappling advantage, so wrestling seems to work better for me.

Do you regularly gain grapple advantage from things other then denying transitions?

Baby punches on the ground work too, but the base of it comes from denying transitions tbh.

There's that Kneebar, the Guillotine from Sprawl when they try to stand, and then the Guillotine Single Leg Reversal and the Kimura Double Leg Reversal. But that's it. I really wish there were more than those 4.

I love that Kneebar, I hit it with Josh Barnett somewhat regularly.

Re: Canceling Opponents Momentum

Who one else can do this?
From the guard, it would be good to do some counter submission with top JJB fighter.
