Laggy match ?

I just played one of the most lag filled matches ever. I basically gave up in the second round cause it was so bad. I just tried to stay away and make the dude mad. Luckily I got him to the ground and pounded him out.

I sent the dude a message about him having a bad internet or lagging on purpose cause I was so frustrated. He said game was normal on his end. Is that possible? It was horrible lag. I would think it would be the same for both of us unless he was doing it on purpose. If this can really happen then there must be matches where I think I am playing great and my opponent has lag.
