If it works and plays great, I would buy it every year.

I buy every sports title in football, basketball and baseball, every year religiously.

If I'm being honest, if they released a UFC game every year with an updated roster and universe/franchise mode with an immersing UFC experience, I'd buy it every year.

I hear the complaints about game play and I always think about how people complain about game play in sports titles every year. I really hope that isn't the reason for the 18 month cycle.

Nah. The extra time is good, but it is for sales. These don't do as well as a yearly release. Undisputed 2010 sold like half the copies 2009 did. Then they switched to 18 months. EA just kept with it.

I think they do compete. A lot of people don't have time or disposable income to buy more than one game in a month, and a lot of them are going to pick Madden or FIFA over UFC. And if they don't get UFC while the release hype and marketing are active they could just forget about it altogether.
