I wish they would just change the unified rules to state that effective striking means the person who threw the most significant strikes in the round as determined by Fight Metric, as that seems to be what everyone wants.

Most people are really bad at scoring fights and it's going to be worse if you have to focus on doing other things, like playing a game. People also get really annoyed when you tell them the actual criteria too, like takedowns not inherently scoring.

I find it incredibly annoying that I'll be winning the whole fight statistically and the opponent gets one knockdown in round 3 and wins the decision. Yesterday I had a match where I had twice as many sig and total strikes, 5 takedowns, 2 knockdowns and this dude dropped me once in round 3 and wins? Did I miss something here?

Having no 10-8 rounds when dominating someone on the ground sucks.

That does suck and is the only thing that's actually broken about the judging IMO

That means you have an issue with the current judging criteria in real life MMA.
He likely wins round 3 because of the knockdown. I'm assuming that your two knockdowns happened in 1 round. Then it comes down to how much damage happened in that other round.

Unless you loss 30-27, I dont see a reason to be that upset about the loss. Unless you significantly outstruck and hurt your opponent in 2 of the rounds.

Damage.

Plain and simple, this is the number #1 judging criteria. If you get knocked down, then that counts as a lot of damage done in the judges' eyes.

If you take someone down and hold them down the whole round....there's not much damage being done. That's why grapplers are still losing rounds when they control opponents on the ground but still get touched up in the standup.

Damage trumps everything, in real life and in UFC 3.

Re: The judging is still garbage

I have a question regarding judging and damage.

In offline if I use sliders to tune down my damage and up the CPU’s will the judges take that into account? To break it down, in a mirror match between me and the AI where I have my damage down a few clicks and the CPU’s up, if all else being equal I land more strikes and would have, without sliders, done more damage, will the game recognize that and give me the round? Or will it give the CPU the round since it mathematically did more damage?
