NBA2K Play Now Online has a tiered system where you are awarded additional wins for defeating a higher tier team with a lower tier team to incentivize the use of lower tier teams because you can climb the league ladder quicker. Ex. defeating the Warriors (Tier 1) with the Hawks (Tier 3) will get you 2 additional wins.

If the difference in styles weren't enough, or if the the lower tier fighters didn't get used, maybe something like that would work.

I really want the fighter accolades to come back. They changed based on how you used the fighter - maybe make it a loading screen thing that shows what your opponents strengths are?

I don't remember the specifics, but wasn't tier 1 supposed to be a big chunk of the higher ranked fighters in a weight class, tier 2 the lower end of the spectrum of ranked fighters in a weight class, and tier 3 was like people never in the UFC?

Removing the overalls was the best thing they did with fighter ratings. Inflating the other aspects of a fighters stats just to get the overall up is gone.

What? Where are you pulling this from? Why would fighters (aside from Joe Rogan and Tyson) never in the UFC be in the game?

Maybe tier 3 would also apply to cafs and imaginary fighters in offline career mode?

There was talk of 3 tiers in a thread many months ago that gpd posted in. I could be remembering it way wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

I wasn't on the forum back then, so IDK, I was just tiering the fighters in the beta, and felt there was 3 tiers haha

I think its just tier 1 is the elite of the division.

Tier 2 is the top class athletes

tier 3 is the rest

Mike tyson could be classed as tier 1 or 2 depends on his stats.
