Re: Does Everyone Fight the Same Style On UFC 3?

I got the game just yesterday, but it feels like it's combo multiplier 2.0. In EA UFC 2, you had to combo because consecutive strikes did more damage (makes no sense). But in EA UFC 3, you have to abuse hard combos because it's like 10x faster. If you just throw out 2 hooks, it's slower than me irl throwing a hook combination and the second just gets blocked/countered. If you throw a hard combo 2 hook, the second one always hits if you land the first. It hurts them a lot of the time as well

Also if you don't hard combo and just go for well timed single strikes, you'll almost never hurt them. Only exceptions are things such as head kick counters or uppercut counters. It's very hard to rock someone if you don't hard combo and it's not a headkick/uppercut counter

Yes good post. I'm sorry but i'm not sure who thought this hard combo + input lag system was the best way to go. It is definitely not.

This has actually been the good thing about UT. It took getting to div 3, but more players play realistic and don't rush at all. You have to be very cautious because of the ratings handicaps. Early on I did play against a lot of terrible bull rushing opponents though.

But there are Diaz characters that still happen get away with throwing strikes literally every second nonstop like in ranked, craziness.

I don't think the hard combo system is perfect, but I do think it's better than 2's combo system by a mile, because while this still, let's say, heavily encourages combination striking, it at least has more realistic combos. Like, throwing 1-2-3 over and over again is significantly better than 1-2-1-2-1-2-Lead high kick, you know?

I'm also not experiencing any major input lag and have been able to find some success potshotting (admittedly against the AI or somewhat cooperative players)

So, while I don't think this system is perfect, I think it's a pretty significant improvement over 2 and all in all, I'm pretty happy with it. But, who knows, maybe in a week and a half someone will discover the objectively best combination and I'll hate it, I want to give the meta more time to settle before coming to a solid opinion on the mechanics.

They really need the 360 head movement man I swear I’ve heard people calling the head movement “rock, paper, scissors” that’s because it kind of is all you can do is anticipate. With 360, if you preemptively slip to a side and you see a strike coming that side you can roll away to decrease the impact or completely slip it.

But all honesty I’m just going off of what I’m seeing and hearing my opinion really dosent hold much wait in comparison with someone who’s been hands on with the game.

Yeah that’s been the meta since the beta.

If you duck into a strike it should do insane damage.

It does do insane damage, it's just really, really hard to time relative to how effective of a tactic it is.
