Re: Wind up on kicks

Are you throwing a lot of lead leg kicks, where the fighter has to basically switch stances before throwing the kick (or counterbalance the weight moving forward some other way which also takes time)?

I've noticed the wind up is really long on lead leg kicks, but feels good on back leg kicks. This seems to jive with reality. I hope they don't touch them much.

Yeah all the advancing strikes have additional startup frames. So if speed is priority, make sure you're planted.

Interesting. Even the sideways, or retreating kicks have long startup frames.

Re: Wind up on kicks

For some strikes, only the advancing ones have extra frames, I think.

Anyone who's used Machida knows.

He doesn't even fluidly combo straights and rear body kicks.
