Wind up on kicks

Can the wind up on kicks be reduced a bit?

Punches are rather snappy and responsive but kicks are rather cumbersome.

Nah for balance sake it has to be that way.

Kicks do way more damage now. Although I wish kick speed/punh speed were separate so the Barboza and Pettis of the world stand out

From my experience kicks only wind up while you're pushing forward. If you stop forward movement they snap out there.

I disagree. They can make the kicks tighter but still have the kick catch for balance.

This.

Moving forward is what gives you the huge wind up usually.

Which is a part of my point, I would like the wind up on those kicks to be reduced a bit.

Feint a jab or straight before throwing the kick, it'll buffer it into a combo and you'll throw it faster, I always pop out a useless jab (ie throw well out of range) to speed up my kicks (unless I just wanna slap someone coming in)
This only works with kickboxers/MT strikers.

Edson, for example, has a MEAN straight punch-lead body kick combo that is lightning fast.

Personally I don't mind the windup on kicks, naked body kicks from idle can feel a bit delayed, but the rest work pretty well for me, I feel if they reduced the windup, they'd have to reduce the power, which I don't like.

All this said, I agree Wonderboys unique whiffless rear kicks feel slower than the normal ones, but his lead head kick from idle, thrown naked, is faster than a lead headkick thrown in a combo, so there is that.

But his other ones. You have to land at perfect range or you get swarmed in my experience.
