The AI fights the same every fight. If you fight a grappled, it's essentially Demian Maia, holding you in postured down mount, baby punches and blocking all transitions, with an occasional inescapable submission.

If it's a striker, no matter who it is, it's a prime Anderson Silva. Checking every leg kick, defensive master, counter striker, striking perfectly with every direction you lean.

Not very fun.

my issue is knowing i always sim my character to be a wrestler, but the ais ground game is really bad

It is a problem. When you get higher up, basically everybody has maxed stats or close to maxed stats. So you're essentially fighting the same person over and over again because of that. Fighters need identities.
