Most definitely.

We need block in side control.

No, just less damage. See Oezdemir vs Cormier.

Many people are going to see this and rightfully point out that you should’ve just waited for full stamina regen and used the new half guard transition first as it’s very fast. But, they’ll leave out that it’s still stupid easy to deny you with a character like GSP. The ground game needs work, for real. You just stood still in the center of the cage exchanging knees from single collar (a position I don’t remember seeing once in the past three years) and got taken down by a super fast transition. Then put in side control and rained down on by elbows that should be 1) able to be blocked and 2) should have opened up easy escapes. Not to mention the knees some people throw from here while you’re low on stamina and give you basically a free 10% stamina drain.

We need block. Less damage just means more time stuck in side control being denied before being finished.

You can’t physically block in side control though because the arm is trapped. However there is a tiny amount of distance for any strikes to accelerate in, meaning that they do minimal amounts of damage.

You can tho. The arm is trapped in crucifix.

Belfort has his hands free before being tied down into crucifix.

The way out of that is to fake to the left or right when you see the animation begin for a strike. It will cancel out their strike. Pick your moment to go for a full transition once you've messed with them for a bit.

If they get you in crucifix, don't panic and start trying to transition. Eat one elbow and transition out freely. I actually don't think it is broken as you should probably be eating a strike or 2 if caught in this position.
