You think he ever fights Khabibs or Tony? Or even Diaz?

He's gonna fight few warm up fights then fight McGregor who will stand with him enough.
Easier said then done.

It takes most fighters years to learn how to defend TDDs if they have no wrestling or grappling experience. Checking kicks isnt something you pick up quickly either.

He will get smashed but it will be a nice payday.

He wont fight multiple times. He's going to get a $200m plus payday and move the hell on.

A couple hard leg kicks and Floyd is instantly trying to survive for the rest of the fight too
Or kicked in the head or body.

He can't box like he does in the ring in MMA tho. It doesn't fly. He can't square his stance up. He can't be shoulder rolling right next to the opponent. Like what makes him successful in the boxing ring wouldn't make him successful in MMA so he'd have to even relearn how to box in the sport.

This isn't the average athlete we are talking about. We are talking about the richest and possibly most technical.

If Ray Mercer can Ko a former HW champion within seconds. I am sure Mayweather can tool a few gimmes before facing McGregor.

I am not saying he would beat McGregor, but given that McGregor is primarily a striker I see him testing his kicks more than his grappling game as he saw he couldn't clinch with Mayweather well. McGregor was the one shooting TDs, even getting stuffed.

hes also 40 and has 30 + years of boxing muscle memory. it takes a long time to retrain things he does without even thinking and any gimme fighter is just gonna fake something then charge for a takedown and floyd has about 10-20 seconds to ko them before he go's for a ride

Re: Floyd Mayweather Jr in the UFC

Boxing clinching isn't the same as MMA clinching at all though bro.

Ray mercer and Tim Sylvia also agreed to stand. Tim went straight into boxing range with an extremely powerful puncher. He was also out of his prime and trash in comparison to today's MMA athletes.

Floyd can win, sure. It's just extremely unlikely. I'd say it's about as unlikely as Conor beating Floyd in a boxing match (which I never saw as impossible).

Mcgregor got Floyd's back about a hundred times in their fight as well lol. Not that it matters as it was a boxing match.

You're crazy if you think Floyd has more than a 5% chance. And even that is probably generous.

Exactly. This is a point I'm always trying to emphasize when this discussion comes up. Everything, including the boxing, is different.

People see Gaethje vs Alvarez type fights and think "wow, those MMA guys have sloppy striking, a good boxer could go in there and F them up!". In reality, that wouldn't have been a sloppy striking match if either of them had a hole in their wrestling.

Re: Floyd Mayweather Jr in the UFC

People are just to overprotective of their sport.

This is MMA we are talking about Brock Lesnar came in and dominated just because he was a superior athlete and had a background in amateur wrestling.

It's not the same as McGregor going over into Boxing.

I like MMA more than boxing but I have to admit what is reality.

MMA is still trying to figure itself out. Boxing has it's ways because they were established with decades of experience.

The talent level in both are different.

50 years from now and best practices are firmly established then it'll be extemely hard to cross over into MMA.
