Re: How to implement Hand fighting in UFC 4

I am not saying they are the exact same thing...
I am clearly saying they are different routes to the same outcome.

There are boxing parries which is like a deflection. The classic parry most think of. Then there are also karate/wrestling parries which are catches.

Wrist/head control, active blocking, hand traps etc is the outcome

Parrying or reaching out (pawing) are both different entries.

Both are forms of hand fighting.

Re: How to implement Hand fighting in UFC 4

I think John actually had the best idea for implementing a variation of it.

Use R1+R2 and forward. You can paw and upon contact peel block (just time a follow up strike). The Anthony Johnson uppercut is a great example.

It can even be used to negate same side strikes. If both sides do it at the same time it can initiate the hand touch you see a lot of fighters do when both are trying to establish range.

Both sides would then be able to go into strikes like in this video(go to 1:15 for follow up options)

If both sides continue to push forward while doing it you would get this animation

I would also love for maybe R1+ R2 and a flick forward causing a push animation to create space when in the pocket. This can be followed up with strikes. So you could frame and land a strike while escaping.

Framing would serve the purpose of a guaranteed punish against predictable TD/ clinch attempts.

I like the idea of clinch parries against non straights as well. Give us parries against straights and the pawing technique.

So if someone is just trying to imitate Jon Jones you can do this

I am asking for both actually because both are big parts of striking in mma and this is an mma sim

Parrying into the clinch like UD3.
Actually re read my original post it’s definitely more elaborate and has more depth than parries. To often we are looking for just one element like head movement or parrying or block br am without considering how it all fits. What I propose would make elements fit so it would feel dynamic like mma. You wouldn’t want to just hold block nor would you spam strikes. Nor would u spam parry it would slow it down and create strategy

well yeah but if you follow that logic head kicks and uppercuts are trying to achieve the same thing

Doesnt like anyone disagreeing with him, or being proved wrong for that matter, even if we are on the same side he ruins it.
